I think giving it that BYD now owns three totally different sub brands such as Yang Wang, FCB and Denza other than the BYD itself, and no, BYD now owns 100% of Denza instead of 90%, it is good to see that BYD are trying different things on their brands. I personally am owning one Li-Auto L9, one Taycan, and one Zeekr 009 right now, and as someone who likes to travel by car, I always choose my hybrid L9 instead of Taycan and 009, even though I am in line of fully electrifying, but considering China is such a huge country even though it has the most advanced and wide-spread charging infrastructure, pure EV is just not enough for many who need to drive far, although I know you personally do not like Hybrid over EV. Just imagine what would happens when tens of millions of EV driving on the highway during the Chinese New Year or Golden Week. Besides that, I am very in favor of U8's tank turn and floating ability, tank turn is just a showcase, but the fact that it could do so makes me way easier to drive my car in relatively smaller street and parking lot, same to the floating ability, I have already used it once when typhoon hit my hometown last time, I think some people in Dubai and Valencia would agree with me when they suffered from sudden flooding. People favor these functions not for daily uses, just like favoring Huawei's satellite phone only in emergency. And it is China's market, Elliot, not European, there are a huge amount of people like to have big cars, then brands make cars bigger, there is no right or wrong of it. As for this Z9 GT, I personally don't like it because to me the interior of Denza is a bit old fashion, but more than 1k sales number in 10 days has already proven it could has its own stance in this market and three of those were bought by people I know, and they really like it. And let's not forget, BYD is still very new to this industry, less than 2 decades since they firstly launched their first car, I think they are still learning.

Yes I agree Plug in Hybrids are the way to go... until Rechargers are everywhere and cars can recharge 300km in 15mins. Otherwise.. its just soo much more convinient. I don't have to plan a trip aroud chargers. Personally I think BYD need a brand for youthful buyers. I am interested in the Z9 GT when it comes to Australia next year. But I wish the interior was more like Nio than BYD.
@cheungchingtong11 сағат бұрын
@@ricosun Well, I am in my 30s, so Yang Wang's design bothers me not, but I don't think BYD will change their current design of any of their brands to be more like NIO tbh since there is a NIO out there already. I feel HP in EVs is becoming like Mega Pixels of Digicams when they first came out. It was all about having more and more, without it actually being of any use. Having said that, I would not say no to a 1000 HP car.

Agree with you Elliot on no need for 1000hp for consumer vehicles. Most drivers would fine 500hp to be plenty of power. Even that is more than any should ever be given. I know some will say it is freedom of choice to get vehicles with a 1000hp or more, but we humans are dangerous drivers and the more powerful a vehicle is the more damage we can do with it. I love performance vehicles and believe ultra performance vehicles are awesome, but at the track. Most drivers of these ultra performance street legal vehicles will use track performance mode going down city streets and other public roadways. Humans cannot be trusted.

The power of an electric motor is limited by its power input, which is the sum of the engine/generator output plus the battery output. In a PHEV, the battery size is usually only 1/5 to 1/3 of the battery size of a normal BEV, and its maximum power is reduced by the same ratio.
