also the screw up on the translation is not only bad its actually makes the entire battle different. the moral lesson i guess for the ant king was to never underestimate humanity's infinite potential for evolution and destruction. the bomb being a result of this which easily took out the ant king to near death and even then still kills him. though the thing is meruem isnt arrogant he is just ignorant.
@c3p67 ай бұрын
What’s terrifying is that when Meruem states “He had me in check-mate from the very beginning”; it’s literally true. No matter the power gap between them, Netero was in control and had the upper hand the entire time and could have ended the fight at any moment. _That_ defines the malice of humanity.

@danny345747 ай бұрын
I dont necessarily agree with you here. If Netero ended the fight sooner, that means he would have to die so it makes sense why he prolonged the fight because just immedietly suiciding a fight he could possibly win is just VERY STUPID. He either wins the fight and doesnt need to die, or he's going to die anyways so the nuke is the backup plan. The nuke in itself is what defines the malice of humanity, not Netero's ability to end the fight sooner as humans have evolved since they existed, but not all humans are good. This is why nukes and guns exist, as humans have used technology to offset their weaknesses in good ways like fire stoves for more efficient cooking, but also in horrendous ways as people of power use these weapons to maintain their power. Humanity could live in peace without the need of bloodshed against their own kind, but they dont because evil humans exist and they'll do anything to exploit it. That's the real malice of humanity, the ability to evolve to create peace but instead evolve technologically destructive weapons and etc instead.

Yea I love this episode. As fearsome as the ant king is he was never a threat. They just wanted to beat him without too much collateral. This was just one small cheap bomb. They knew the ants were at the palace they could have launched multiple megaton nukes on it if they wanted to. Meruem never had any real chance of ruling the world. Great story
@b_delta97257 ай бұрын
The association could've just send an even bigger bomb through Knov's portals in the palace, or drop it like a nuke, they didn't do it because of the civilians outside the palace; all this plan from the hunters that we've been following was to save those civilians, because victory was long assured, the ants stood no chance
@benefitsbrian91997 ай бұрын
@@nickgiotis6206 This is what makes this arc my favourite in anime/manga. It's ultimately about this newly-evolved species coming to learn that they aren't nearly as dangerous as they think they are. Besides the obvious threat of nukes, Netero himself explains that he's not even the strongest Nen user any more. There are the three triple-star hunters, of which there are at least two who are more than likely stronger than Old Man Netero. There's phantom troupe members like Chrollo, Nobunaga, Feitan, Phinks and Bonolenov who are arguably strong enough to kill the king and/or have Nen abilities that would do harm beyond their combat abilities. Phinks in particular is the standout, as his ability has potentially infinite application. Then there's Nen users like Ging Freecs, Beyong Netero, Linn Horsdeouvre, Maha Zoldyck, Silva Zoldyck and Tserriednich Huy Guo Rou who are all speculated to be as strong or stronger than even prime Netero. There's also Zigg Zoldyck who hasn't been confirmed as alive, but if so is likely as strong or stronger. There's also Alluka, who you could get someone willing to die to ask to kill Meruem in exchange for their life. There's the potential for Nen contracts like the one Gon made to become as strong as the king. There's also potentially Nen-infused items that could do some serious harm to the king. Humans were never in serious danger. The arc was ultimately about the ants figuring this out. This is why I love this arc and it's implications.

@ulquiorra97297 ай бұрын
The phrase that Netero says at the end of the fight "You know nothing of the human's potential for evolution" hits even harder in the manga, because you have the kanji for evolution but the katakana for malice, so it could be read as "You know nothing of the human's potential for malice" Also, 2nd fan fact which is kind of a spoiler for Jujutsu Kaisen S2, the phrase that Netero says after he loses the arm "you think i need 2 arms to pray? a prayer comes from the heart" is really similar to what Todo says to Mahito during his fight with Yuji "you think i need 2 arms to clap? the clap is an acclamation of the soul". I don't know for certain if it's a coincidence, but considering that Yuji takes the same pose that Gon takes when he uses the Jajanken in the same fight, i'm guessing it's more like a tribute or something

it's because Netero found an extremly powerfull way to devellop nen ability, we all know about condition and resolve, but many assume death is like the ultimate cost for a condition, but it's not, dying is not that hard, there's a few thing more powerfull than death, Netero pass many year proving his resolve, he pre-emptivelly fullfill a condition stronger than death, another exemple would be spoil... . . . . Gon getting curse by something worse than death
@b_delta97257 ай бұрын
@a4981 fun fact, we don't know for how long he was praying, he started at 46, then we see him when he's 50 still throwing punches , then the scene in the dojo happens 60 years before the present, which makes him at least 110 years old... however Beans (the guy that looks like a bean) says at the beginning of the manga that Netero has been saying he's 100 years old for the last 20 years, so he probably spent far more than we thought up there, at least 14 years I'd say...

Fun fact, but when Netero said "do not underestimate human's infinite potential for evolution", the manga actually said "do not underestimate human's infinite potential for MALICE". We see both these meanings to what Netero said at the end of the episode. Human's evolve by adapting to situations with technology, but technology can also be used for evil to offset their lack of personal physical strength such as nukes and guns for warfare and thats why humans create things like the nuke Netero used against Mereum. Netero is saying that the potential for evil humans can cause is endless, and its that same evil that defeated Mereum here. Humans have also had an endless history of being against oppression or being the oppressors and the desperation humans go to in such situations leads to humanity's endless evolution, whether that leads to a good result or mass bloodshed.

@TheKrazyguy757 ай бұрын
The thing that's funny is how well this moment was set up. The chimera ants were in a location where no technology was allowed. Throughout the anime, we've only seen fights on a personal level. They build up the ants to be this big threat. And then they reveal... no, they are a B-rank threat, because humanity has weapons of mass destruction and could have easily nuked them at any time. In fact, this bomb is *low budget and compact* and mass produced. Imagine what a high budget full sized warhead would do. The ants were never a threat to humanity. They were only a threat on a personal level, and the only reason they got this far was because the neighboring countries didn't want to nuke their neighbor. The ants were in checkmate since the very beginning.
@darthrap4567 ай бұрын
I absolutely love how anticlimactic the end of the fight is. The narrator even says that this bomb is compact and low-budget. Even the pinnacle of evolution, possibly the strongest being on the planet, can only shiver in fear in front of just a speck of humanity's malice. The ants were never a threat to humanity. Not to mention.... The monster that was on its way to become human, facing off the human that became a monster.
