Trivia: When Netero said "evolution" in the manga it's also written the kanji that means "malice/evil", but according to Togashi the reading is evolution (for example, almost all nen attacks have two names, like Big Bang Impact is the pronunciation but the kanji is "fist of destruction", or Feitan's Pain Packer is written as "unforgiven", or Bungee Gum is written as "elastic love"). In this case Netero meant that Meruem knew nothing about humanity infinite potential for evolution when it comes to be evil, in fact when it comes to do bad things to each other, to find new way to hurt each other, to kill each other, we are the most deadly species ever, in fact how he ended ep the battle? By using a bomb which is, as explained, low-budget and easily mass-produced. So the ants actually never stood a chance to win against humanity, they could have just dropped the bombs and kill all of them, but also the several thousands of humans gathered there for the selection would have been killed. If you remember when Netero has the flashback before attacking Meruem for the first time, he is on the phone and they tell him to settle things quickly with the ants and Netero thinks that they will blame the hunter association. So if the hunters failed against the ants, the governments wanted to use the bombs to kill all the ants and then blame hunter association for it to the public. Another detail: Netero lost the limbs that he used agaisnt Killua and Gon at the ball game, there he didn't use left leg and right hand, here he lost his right leg and left hand, that was his bias.

I don't think it' supposed to be read as "evolution" at all. The context clearly says it's to be read as "malice". As the Chimera Ants demonstrated, every living being has the potential for evolution and, for them, it culminated in Meruem. Humans evolve, just like other species, but their natural evolution could never hope to surpass the Ants' evolution (and no, not even "that" fight was a sign humans could be beyond the Ants). But humans compensated that by harboring limitless malice in order to remain at the top of all species. Neither the bomb nor the fact Netero has it inside him are supposed to be interpreted as signs of evolution, but of how malicious humans will be to subjugate everything in the world. And, true enough, later developments will show that, as evolved as the Ants are, they could never hope to compare with humanity's malice.

I think that being an enhancer gave him an edge into forging this ability, since it depends all from his senses, his speed and endurance, which are traits better developed in enhancer, also stamina and recovery are an important factor and surely to use that massive amount of nen you have to be able to sustain it with a body enhanced to the limit. Plus this ability is physically separated from Netero, so if he wasn't that fast he needed to be able to endure heavy attacks with his body alone. Despite being a creation that do not require enhancement at all, it couldn't be use even remotely that well without an enhancer body.

His ability isnt conjuration, its transmutation and emission. He transmute his aura into the statue of buddha, separate it from himself with emission, and then manipulate it. Conjured items would be able to exist on their own, unless the user recalls it. If the Buddha statue is conjured, there is no need for Netero to dismiss it and then summon it again for the next attack. Such a limitation eventually cost him this battle. Transmutation and Emission is right next to Enhancement so it makes sense

Netero reached the peak in aura quantity, aura control, physical condition and martial arts. So how do you go beyond that? Now. Emitting a statue, manipulating it to attack and enhancing it at the same time is inefficient and stupid so how did he get there. _________ We know that if you use a specific condition. You can either increase your aura output or decrease its consumption. If instead of just emitting a statue, you put a condition that you need a specific movement to emit it. You reduce the emission cost. Since excess movements in battle can get you killed, its a hardh enough condition. The more inefficient the movement the better efficiency you get on the emission. Since it's his adjacent affinity, it's enough to reduce it. However manipulation is further away and would still cost too much. So how do you overcome that. If you put a condition that the only thing you can manipulate is the statue you emitted. That's a start, but still not enough. A second condition so that instead of directly controlling the statue. It only imitates your movements in a set pattern. And a final one that restricts the statue to only do one attack before you need to re-emit it seem to reduce the consumption to a minimum. Now you got a clunky ability that albeit doesn't consume much aura. Still seems Unnecessary. So why go through all that? It was explained that the harder you make it for yourself to do something. The more Nen rewards you for it. We saw it in how Gon learned that if instead of using a normal enhanced punch, he used a roundabout way. His attack enhanced this way would output more damage. So just how much return can we get from this ability compared to Jajanken? Jajanken : -Put your fist against your hand -> 1. A normal condition. -Use Zetsu on your whole body except for the fist -> 2. An extreme one at that -Shout first comes rock, janken ken then (in this instance) rock! -> 3. A normal one. -You must charge the ability, the longer the better -> 4. This is a harsh one that can turn into an extreme one if you're charging for a long period while facing danger. So 2 normal conditions, a harsh one and an extreme one. Gon almost killed morel in one punch. 100 type guanyin buddhisatva : -Using one adjacent nature and a far away one as prerequisites (unlike jajanken where they are options) -> 2. one harsh and one extreme. -A wasted movement as another condition -> 3. similar to charging, this is a harsh one. -It cannot move freely and can only imitate your movements -> 4. Also a harsh one considering how hard it was to make this shit as an enhancer. -It has set patterns -> 5. Also a harsh one since it becomes predictable. -It can only attack once following a pattern before disappearing -> 6. An extreme one. You need to redo every step before each attack and waste extra aura. So 4 harsh conditions and 2 extreme ones before you can use enhancement. Can you imagine how much damage one punch from this deals? And he can spam it That's why Netero was a peak enhancer. Without it. He probably wouldn't even scratch Meruem. In comparison. Uvogin, who is considered as one of the best enhancers, used only one extreme condition (+ maybe a harsh one) for his punch. Yet he could nuke a small area.

The aging thing was mentioned by Wing I think, about how with proper use of nen you can extend your lifespan far beyond what a normal human could. Nen is life force. Im pretty sure it was stated in one of the earlier episodes that successfully controlling the leaking if your aura will make you younger longer. Netero is old af and since he mastered Nen, he was able to keep his youth longer. By using Zero Hand, he used all of that Nen that he managed to keep in his body. What you see after that move is what he would look like w/o Nen or his natural look if he aged normally.

Netero's voice actor died and 4 episodes later the character Netero died. Its poetic. Edit: I just checked and the last time previous voice actor said full sentence was episode 111 and he only said one word in episode 112. So it might be that voice actor died 14 to 15 episodes before character Netero died. New voice actor only started in episode 122 so he was in only 5 episodes.

Gon is a hypocrite, cynical, capricious, stubborn, selfish, closed-minded, stupid, reckless, impatient, impulsive, blind to reality, childish, ambitious and greedy... but JUST BECAUSE HE IS A CHILD who never tasted the harsh reality and he always did what he wanted, his whims were fulfilled and he got away with it, not only because of the coincidences that could be in his favor in certain circumstances, but because he had many innate talents such as physical strength and his incredible use of Nen , among other things; and this is a dangerous combination, because to such an unaware person with that level of power it's just a ticking time bomb, Gon DID NOT DESERVE TO HAVE THAT POWER FROM THE BEGINNING, he wasn't ready and had to have matured first before having those things, but the creator of the manga did it precisely to give us a terrible lesson about characters like Gon, who is one of those stereotypical Shonen characters at first, but then turns into an archetype that we actually HATE and finally a complete deconstruction of those " supposed perfect Shonen heroes" who are not realistic and are, as I said before, DANGEROUS, because they are either psychopaths and/or sociopaths, because they believe that the Universe will always be on their side and they will always conform to their optimism and what they they think and want At first, we as spectators and also the characters that surrounded Gon let Gon pass or forgave him for those foolish and dangerous acts because he had charisma and optimism or for other reasons AND NEVER OR ALMOST NEVER corrected him. But in this Arc, finally the harsh reality itself deals a cold and well-deserved (and in fact, also very necessary) blow to Gon... he realized that not because he has good intentions, is always optimistic or if he tries hard a lot or thinks that not only should he have something he wants, but also believes that he deserves it because yes, they will ALWAYS give it to him or grant what he is looking for (an example of this was already seen when Gon confronts Knukles and tries to to beat him only to fail miserably and pathetically... or like when Gon and Killua started their training to use and control the Nen... and they gave him a month to do it, which is already impossible, but Gon doesn't wants to wait and his bad ways of acting, such as his impatience, stubbornness, recklessness and naivety just for putting some of those bad habits and attitudes of Gon, came out, he said he would do it in a single week, but he paid the price for such stupidity and his training obviously did not end in a to week). Gon learned, what is supposed to be the obvious logic of life: that life itself IS DISAPPOINTING, it does not revolve around our desires, our optimism, our state of mind, our emotions and feelings and our whims... the universe is not molded to us; facts, hard data and reality move where they want and we are the ones who must mold ourselves to it, not the other way around.

Man at this place i lost that shonen hype of fair fight. I always expected netero to be knocked out by king and later king would meet with komugi who would essentially become his emotional leash and guide him to a path of coexistence or something. I get tht the king has the refined potentials of a huge number of living beings including lots of nen users but using a bomb still felt cheap. Well ig when u are at tht position u cant risk a potential wipeout of humans by taking a chance in believing an alien creature's words. Also i wish someone was there to completely wipeout king and all chimera ants on command XD.

In regards to the aura discussion at the end: Aura = life force. If you recall during Gon and Killua learning with Wing, he told them that opening the nen pores is dangerous because if it all seeps out, they will die. Just like with our real bodies, we have subconscious limiters on ourselves in order to preserve some amount of energy needed for basic life function, though in crisis mode we can sometimes supersede that to perform superhuman acts (i.e., panicked mother lifting a car off her child for a moment). Makes sense that a similar function would be applicable to one's literal life energy.
