Huh? Neteyam didn't get shot trying to save Payakan. Neteyam got shot after the Sullys made it out but Lo'ak convinced Neteyam to go back for Miles "Spider". Even though Quaritch wasn't going to kill Spider. As for Payakan? Payakan was doing his own thing taking out the naval fleet practically on his own. Sure he was getting shot by machine guns but tulkun have extremely thick skin and the bullets essentially bounce off and have the effect of less than a paper cut to the tulkun. Like the poacher said midway through the movie, the tulkun are extremely difficult to kill, you can't simply gun them down, you have to use the technique with the harpoons and balloons to make them float. Honestly Ro'a and her baby tulkun getting poached for amirita, plus the RDA just brutally taser-torturing the Metkayinans was enough trauma for one movie. Neteyam didn't have to get shot and apparently die, for now. Really hoping Cameron gets it right with Eywa and Neteyam for Avatar 3.

While their relationship isn’t shown in great detail, Miles is much closer to Neteyam's younger siblings. Miles leaves out Neteyam's name when he lists the "family" he has left. While in the beginning of the film after being wounded in the mag-lev assault Spider was heard teasing Neteyam when he was being patched up by his grandmother Mo’at, while later on in the film, Miles was caught on the ship, Neteyam felt the risk was too great to bother saving him, and it was only when Lo'ak insisted that Neteyam agreed to the rescue. Neteyam is also seen doing an annoyed growl at the idea. Despite this, Neteyam risked his life and perished in order to save Miles from Quaritch. It’s so annoying that neteyam has such a backstory but we don’t see any of it and then they kill him off likeeee it’s not netflix Also is it just me that founds it weird that Jake abandoned his human lifestyle (and everything he knew tbh) to become navi, but 15 years later he acts like a marine and raises his children and takes family roles like a human? And yes he has to protect the clan but now they all use human weapons? Kinda weird
@rock2946 Жыл бұрын
Right? They went from assimilation to just straight up back tracking.
@OGXenos Жыл бұрын
Well, it's not 15 years later for raising the kids. Neteyam is pretty old. People change but they don't lose old habits, they just don't use them as much. A massive reason Jake abandoned his human form when other members of the research team didn't and still use their human and avatar forms is because Jake's legs don't work. He's always hated being stuck in a wheelchair. The entire reason he accepted the program AND accepted Quaritch's offer to spy on the research team was because of the promise of restoring his legs. The other reason he abandoned it was because that's simply where his family is now. He doesn't have any family back home, his brother is dead, and Earth kinda blows anyways. Being stuck between Avatar and human would make living with Neytiri and the clan a lot harder than it needs to be. It's easier to just swap bodies. He raises his kids like a human because he's still a human. He may have learned the Na'Vi ways, but he emulates them, he doesn't live them. It's like learning formalities and table manners as an aristocrat; he does things because they're expected of him, not necessarily because he believes them (Though he probably does). The same goes for fighting. The Na'Vi may have their own ways of combat, but to be blunt, humanity has pretty much perfected the art of war. Human CQC, tactics, and weaponry is far superior to the natives, and it's not even close. Don't forget the Na'Vi would have lost by a HUGE margin if not for Eywa turning the entire planet against them. By the time the Na'Vi were in full retreat, humanity had barely sustained any losses, and definitely no relevant ones. The walkers were fully intact, and both large shuttles were completely unharmed. The only benefit the Na'Vi have on their side is size. They are much larger, stronger and their bows have massive penetrating power, but that just makes them a bigger target for guns. Tsu'Tey might have been the best warrior of the entire clan but he still got dropped by a single guy freaking out and spraying gunfire at him. Ultimately Jake is still a human and a marine at heart. He simply doesn't use that skillset normally because he's not living with humans and he's not in active duty. But once the circumstances arise, he still has that skillset to pull upon when needed.
@KashaLupulАй бұрын

@jandrew1994 Жыл бұрын
@@cainorev-j4r There's only 3 movies left. Next one comes out in December, 2025. But yes I'm firmly on the train of Neteyam being fully restored to life through Kiri and Eywa. Eywa does not make "exceptions" often, but 'she' will realize that Neteyam's death at such a young age is a mistake for Pandora. That 'balance' will reign supreme. Though, make no mistake about it, Lo'ak will be the mighty world warrior, hero, and main protagonist of the remaining three films. Neteyam's ceiling if he is indeed resurrected is to return to Mo'at, Omatikaya, i.e.. Home. Safely out of harm's way from the RDA and Ash People. And ultimately he can work towards fulfilling his destiny, becoming what his father was there for the time between Avatar 1 and 2, marrying a beautiful wife, etc. But Lo'ak is destined for great conquest with Payakan and Tsireya from the Metkayina base, and will be the main character. I don't know if there's ever been a hybrid Omatikaya-Metkaniya child before. Lo'ak and Tsireya are obviously way too young for that in Avatar 3, but maybe we'll get to see that by the end of Avatar 5.

I watched the movie and to me Neteyam is Neytiri. Even the names are similar by sharing some phonetically similar syllables: NE-TE-Y-am, NE-Y-TI-ri. Like Neytiri, Neteyam has strong roots in the local culture, he obeys the Omatikaya ways, he's disciplined, obeys his father's and mother's orders, he's the model of a good warrior Na'vi kid exactly like Neytiri certainly was when she was a kid. On the other hand, Lo'ak is like Jake Sully in the beginning of the 1st movie: impulsive, _strong heart, no fear,_ but _making noise, don't know what to do. (...) Stupid. Ignorant like a child_ (I'm intentionally using the words that Neytiri used to describe Jake Sully after she saved him from the nantangs - hyena-like viperwolves - in the 1st movie). Like Jake Sully, Lo'ak has a lot of potential for leadership, but 1st he needs guidance, he needs to learn how to control his impulses, think before doing and then doing things more effectively (as his father learned from Neytiri). Lo'ak and Jake Sully also share some phonetical similarities: the _LO_ part resembles the _LLY_ in _suLLY_ (also notice that there is no _L_ syllable in Neytiri's name), and the _AK_ part equals the _AK_ one in _jAKe._

From the beginning of the movie I was sure Neteyam was probably going to die. Being the first son and every time being involved in BS because of his brother's bad choices, it was textbook movie plot - young character, who can't be blamed because not adult, does something reckless resulting in the death of someone else - making the stupid character more important even though it was their fault and they are forgiven just because. Now the better character is gone, thanks Lo'ak.

What he needed to fight the humans though was a bullet proof vest. I hope he is somehow restored to life. He is awesome and heroic. Also, Neteyam was conceived the night Jake and Neytiri mated under the lights, not after the final battle of the first movie

give Cameron a chance to write his revival story in the next movie. If the movies are finished and he is never given his second chance, then yeah you can hate Cameron and proceed to go full Quaritch on Cameron's first born son and yell "JUSTICE FOR NETEYAM!! BLUE LIVES MATTER WOO HOO!!!!!"

“I want to go home.” Yeh. I heard from people who worked in hospice and other settings where they see people die, and they say that whatever control they have of their faculties, that’s all they’re communicating with. And it’s a lot for them to handle including grappling with realzing they’re dying. They may only have energy to say what they feel the most strongly, call for those they love, etc. If they had all their faculties though, it would be different, but it’s not. Yes Neytium wanted to go home, but he already felt that with his family and was a brave and self-sacrificing person, that I don’t think he lived with any regrets at all, inspiring.

I really love your videos! As a quick aside, I wonder if the Tsyeyk from Tsyeyk'Itan is the Na'vi way of saying "Jake" (and in that same vein, if for Kiri, the Kireysi from Kireysi'ite is Na'vi way of saying "Grace") I realize this may be super obvious, but it didn't click for me until I saw this video

Since I saw the movie, I feel like Neteyam and Lo’ak’s relationship is a reflection of Jake and his relationship to his own brother. Lo’ak feels just like Jake did compared to his own brother even though they were twins. He still felt like his brother was better in every way, so much so that he was just the replacement when it came down to it. I’m surprised no one has even brought up Jake’s relationship to his brother as a comparison to these two, down to the death of the other brother.

Neteyam’s personality: Kind, responsible and possessing strong virtue, Neteyam was "the “golden child” of the Sully family who could do no wrong.[2] Inheriting Jake's noble nature, Neteyam carried himself with a strong and confident demeanor and was well-liked by his clan.[3] Even other Clan Leaders, like Akwey and Ikeyni, spoke warmly about Neteyam and praised how much he resembled his parents especially his mother Neytiri and how well he was growing.[4] Neteyam took his role as the eldest son seriously, often tasked by his parents to keep an eye on his siblings. Jake and Neytiri viewed him as reliable and would take him on many of their missions. He strove to set a good example for them. He was very protective of his siblings and was more focused on keeping them safe than having fun with them. In moments of peace, Neteyam let himself joke, tease, and banter with his siblings, such as showing amusement at Lo'ak's poorly hidden attraction towards Tsireya. Neteyam desired to be a great leader and a warrior like his father, but his age, Jake's protective nature, and his siblings' antics undermined his attempts to prove himself.

I feel like Neteyam was written to comeback, since his funeral was inspired from a movie where the main character shared the same fate as Neteyam did, but at the end was resurrected. I feel like Cameron definitely has something planned out with Neteyam, but if he doesn't... I'm 100% sure we'll see him in flashbacks & through spirit tree.
@jandrew1994 Жыл бұрын
I don't think he's "better" than Lo'ak, even though personally I'm a Neteyam They're just different. Lo'ak is creative, craftsy, curious, adventurous, and thinks outside the box. Neteyam is practical, respectful, valiant, conservative, family-oriented, and responsible. Basically, Neteyam is a Gryffindor with some Hufflepuff tendencies, while Lo'ak is a Ravenclaw with some Gryffindor tendencies. Nothing wrong with either.

To me, at least looks wise Neteyam is male Neytiri. It's sad to admit but...... Neteyam died because of Lo'ak's recklessness, he died because yet again he had to go save his little brother's tail.

@@BryceEdwardBrown Could you do a video of him possibly coming back? I'll love to see your theory on it. I think they could sample Neteyam's DNA in some way and use it to make a clone of his body and somehow Kiri or the scientists can figure out how to transfer his conscious back to his now cloned body. I mean, how did they transfer Quaritch's dead conscious to his avatar body? I think Neteyam could be brought back the same way Quaritch did.
