I don't think Netflix realizes how much this matters to Gorillaz fans. We're given small glimpses into the Gorillaz everyday life, most of it just being centred around lore. But having a movie basically showing us how they interact with each other more clearly, is truly a dream come true. And then Netflix just has to be a bitch and ruin every good show they had going on for them.

There are very few animation studios out there, I can see them getting greenlit by Sony, but I doubt they’ll make the deal. Animated films are expensive to make and I doubt any studio would like to pick up the project, Netflix seemed like their best bet but now that ain’t happening.

That would be impossible an animated feature film costs millions I doubt the fans can even donate over 1 million. Their only hope is that they either A. Get a good deal from a studio or B. get some investors to fund the film.

I could definitely see crowdfunding yielding favourable results for them, especially if fans were offered something besides just the promise of the movie for donating like exclusive content or access to exclusive livestreams or something!

Considering they were already in talks for a gorillas movie with Hollywood back in the early 2000s and it was scrapped because they wanted to make it too kid friendly, I feel like the gorillaz would work way better as an adult swim show and I hope somehow they can collaborate together one day. as a big Gorillaz fan I'm upset that I never knew that they wanted to make a movie, and now it's even disappointing that it's possible that I will never get to see it. It's something every one of the Gorillaz fans feels like they need to see after looking into the lore of the characters and the story. There are shorts of the band character interacting each other and it would be so cool to see how time pasted and compare how they interact with each other now compared to back in the 90's. Netflix has disappointed us all but it's no surprise after what they've been up to for the past two years now.

As a long time fan, I am not surprised at the cancellation of another Gorillaz movie attempt. Literally since phase 1 they have tried to do a movie, and each time SOMETHING has stopped it. I will not believe any more Gorillaz movie news when I see a final product. Until then, I’m content with music and music videos

Honestly, I feel that HBO would be more willing to assist in making this project for how big Gorillaz is, and the story lore behind them would draw so many people in even old fans that may have dropped off for a while. The movie was actually in development since 2003 I believe, with a finished script and everything. But that fell through, and it had cancellation after cancellations. HBO was interested back in the day, the days of Spawn and other animation projects, but got canned. I think Warner Bros. should just make a series for Adult Swim, it will be a massive hit. A movie is just doomed to fail.

I swear Netflix is just asking to go out of business atm they keep cancelling shows that have like full on passionate fandoms in favour of crap like the kissing booth and bloody riverdale. A gorillaz movie would be sick af, the band has played a huge part in my life and just development as a person. They debut a couple of years before I was born but I’ve essentially grown up with the members of the band. And their storyline is absolutely bonkers and honestly doesn’t make the most sense but I still find it so fun and I’ve always thought they’d make an epic movie. I’m hoping they’ll get a movie somewhere, I honestly think they could take their script to a more independent animation studios or individuals. Since the premise of the music has always been based on collaboration I think I’d be a sick idea to collaborate in a similar way on the film too.
