Netflix canceled Shadow and Bone | What happens to Six of Crows?

Unfortunately, Netflix has just cancelled Shadow and Bone. There will be no Shadow and Bone Season 3. Is there any chance of getting the Six of Crows spin off. Let's discuss all the news about the cancelation here. Leigh Bardugo also posted about it on her Instagram. No matter what I am grateful for the cast we got, but I really wish we were able to get the Six of Crows spin off we deserved.

yea I hope she didn’t find out from the Deadline article too. Super sad for the new cast. Nikolai, Tamar, Tolya… Everyone was so great. I can’t believe Netflix messed this up.

I knew from the beginning that these books should've been adapted through another network. Netflix can't be trusted lol. I remember wanting it to be on Hulu or Amazon Prime.

I knew this was coming and somehow this still hurts so so much. As you said, the Witcher is universally considered a bad adaptation, yet a show like Shadow and Bone gets the can. S&B was such a good IP for Netflix to play with, especially with the Crows (the crows! 😭) this hurts. This really really hurts

@@Memodeth I am gonna be honest, I really really fell hard and fast for the Crows watching the show (at that point I only had read Shadow and Bone). The Dregs duology is my absolute favourite series now, and it is so sad we don't get to have the big moments - the ice court, Wylan "reading" the docs, jesper and his dad 😭 and even though they basically messed up the big moments for Kanej (how will you have me Kaz? I thought you wouldn't come ... if I couldn't walk, I would crawl...the bandage scene 😭) but still I wish we got more. At least what happens at the end of crooked kingdom with a certain character is not gonna happen in the show so I am canonically pretending that they got the happily ever after they dreamt of)

This is really sad. Why does Netflix always cancells good shows that are good book adaptations? First Lockwood and Co., now Shadow and bone...

Exactly. I was a huge massive fan of Lockwood and co and when they cancelled it it broke my heart, I loved the actors and everything. I was so worried but expected it to happen to shadow and bone and now that it has I'm so mad but it was expected 😭

They cast the perfect Six of Crows chemistry with only one book to go. I can't belive I will never see on screen the bathroom scene with Kanej and the Ice court Heist...it's reallly killing my buzz. In grieving process right now...

I googled the stuff yesterday and there was nothing and now it's gone O.O Oh come on, I wanted to know what they would do with the parts that they changed from the books and I wanted to see Nikolai as Nichevo'ya D: This show was the only recent show I could watch without rolling my eyes :/ But I should have known it, I always find the ones that get cancelled after 1 or 2 seasons. If the studio produces for other services ... I mean, Lucifer picked up again ... but sadly I doubt that Shadow and Bone has the Fanbase size to do that :/ It was fun while it lasted and as you said, it was a good adaptation so in the first place I'm grateful for its existence :D

Netflix bottom line is money. If a show is not getting enough viewers, Netflix will cancel it. However, I don’t blame Netflix, for killing the show. I blame the showrunner who decided to adapt all of the books into one season. Reduce the protagonist’s story and made the crows a prominent character of the show and Kill off a fan favorite in the SECOND season. If the show is lucky enough to get into another platform, they need to get a new showrunner.

Totally disagreed. I think we were extremely lucky to have him. He is a true fan of the books. He always wanted to do Six of Crows, but you gotta do Shadow and Bone first, and I think he did the best he could. If they only had done S&B in season 1, everyone would have stopped watching after three episodes. It was a smart decision to shorten S&B into two seasons and introduce the Crows, who are the better characters. We need acknowledge S&B by itself is just not that good.

"Shadow And Bone" is the perfect example of what happens when the people involved in adapting and making the show, end up fumbling the ball. After a solid, well made, engaging and entertaining first season, the second season was a major step back. Shoddy writing, poor direction, crummy special effects, downgraded production values, really bad pacing and trying to cram way too much source material (from three or more novels in the Grishaverse) in only eight episodes. The second season was almost unrecognizable, seriously, only the first episode of the second season felt in the ballpark of the quality we got in the first season. To make matters worse, it was also drowned in intersectionalism, DEI checkboxes and all other nauseating hallmarks of wokeness. Too bad, because the show had a lot of potential, it had completed source material (unlike let's say "Game Of Thrones") and room to further grow and develop and perhaps become one of the top fantasy series around. But hubris, carelessness, arrogance, modern-day ideology and politics killed a show that had a lot of promise. PS There is a difference between having to make some changes from the source material when adapting a novel or novels into a movie or series and something completely else when taking liberties that pretty much amount to badly written fan fiction like they with "Shadow And Bone" especially in the second season. The blueprint was right there, it was given to them by Leigh Bardugo. Yet Eric Heisserer and co. decided to go a different round...
