Netflix Co-CEO Ted Sarandos started his career as somewhat of a human movie recommendation algorithm. At his video rental store job in Phoenix, Sarandos had a reputation among locals for knowing exactly which films they've enjoyed in the past, and which other titles in the store they might want next. These days, he's one of the most powerful people in Hollywood, leading the $310 billion entertainment behemoth that started the streaming wars: Netflix. Sarandos sat for an interview for "The David Rubenstein Show: Peer to Peer Conversations" and discussed how Netflix evolved from mailing DVDs to making award-winning original programming. This interview was recorded September 19 at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg Center in Washington DC.

All of Netflix's success, or up to 80% of its fame, can be attributed to its R&D Engineering and Technology team and its Senior Leadership team for their own content. Kudos to them! #NETFLIX 🔺️

One great question to ask would be how someone might go about getting a job like theirs.

To be honest, I’m not a fan of this QnA interview style. Take the crackdown on password sharing. The reason for it 99% to unlock more revenue, 1% personalisation. Teds answer: 99%personalisation, 1% about revenue. The responses in these short interview formats are very much like in an earnings call (I like asking tough questions but those probably don’t exactly help the guests to open up). Leaders use it to window dress themselves and their business. There is very little to be learned here. Given the strong connections David has, I think you could turn these QnAs into real, insightful conversations.

My comment is they do less and less to give programs especially that women like, and raise subscription prices constantly till it equals cable bill. …same old “52 channels and nothing on!!! “ The only reason they survive is cause the other streaming services are worse still!!!
