Interesting that he called out Squid Game and Wednesday as Netflix's big two global hits because to me that just reinforces the adage, "nobody knows anything." Squid Game wasn't like anything else but Wednesday was familiar in many ways: based on existing IP, centered on a magical school full of angsty teens, murder mystery, teen romance elements. Just a really good iteration of very familiar and well-worn elements. Which means Netflix doesn't actually have any clue what will hit next or any way to predict it. After all these years, they are still trying a buncha stuff and seeing if anything hits.

Yup infect they are getting desperate. I believe their strategy is to push content that gets a reaction out of people. E.g look at the two menendez programs they put out

Squid Game 1 was a surprise phenomenon, it's a miracle, so to speak. In other words, it's also a lucky strike of S.Korean entertainment industry that has been dominated Asian markets for a couple of years. Ripple effect, kind of like it. Wednesday is a genre itself, the creators are genius.

Netflix isn't really good at quality. It's up to the people who make the shows to have pride and just do something beyond what is expected.

everything fails before the quality of content and its positioning .. and offers to lure viewers ... only given when hired as head creative content.

Just another company that went woke. They rather program customers than entertain them...

Stop with this woke nonsense. It's lazy.

@@bigsnap5 Yeah it's better to say, Netflix has always been trash not because it is woke but because they have no taste and they allow computers to dictate culture.
