This could've been just a completely new IP and nothing would have been different. What's the point of riding the coattails of an existing franchise if they should have done that? I was really trying to give this a shot, managed to get pretty far in the series. From the first episode the main character had me pissed, she is probably the most unlikeable main character I have even watched . And how the 2 sisters managed to somehow get into a facility (that you would expect to be heavily guarded) is beyond me.

Some highlights: They have a room full of Wesker clones at one point in this shit, and the original "Wesker" comes in and it's the actor with dressed like the video game Wesker with leather pants and trenchcoat, sunglasses, but black dude so he has kindve a flat top going on. He looks like Blade. Just like Wesley Snipes Blade. You get multiple covid references. The virus origin is kindve confusing because there are outbreaks but also Umbrella are moving on from bio weapons to prescription anti depressants and putting mild t virus doses in a pharmaceutical called Joy. You have the main villain mind controlled so she does a dead serious pop dance and lip sync. That's the just mind blowing stuff I notice that rises above the normal dumb decisions and scripting. Below that is the basic woke bits, casting, token lesbian couple, i think some remarks about the diversity of the town and sneering suburbs, and you got your pride flags in the girls rooms naturally. They trade out the woke for just sheer absurdity after the half way point. I mean, it really seems like they had a Sci Fi script and slapped some RE monsters in it.

Jill Valentine, distinguished member of STARS and Master of Unlocking, Claire Redfield, smart and adaptable, pretty handy in any kind of situation, Ada Wong, skilled spy combatant and really _really_ hard to figure out, Ashley Graham--- uhh.. um, Sheva Alomar! BSAA agent and damn good in heavy combat! Hell, even in latter gonzo chapters of the games, the females were distinct and possessed of at least a bit of decorum, even Barry's daughter had her moments. I'm around ep. 3 or 4, it is a HARD show to dedicate attention to, but I swear to god if they fuck up HUNK somehow, I'ma be real sad.

I'm really disappointed in Netflix. I really thought they would finally break Az down into tears, and it was close, but they underestimated his mental fortitude. Then again, this was only the second episode and perhaps they were showing Az a way out of Insanity that would later reveal itself to be a trap, but there is no way to be sure without further episodes. This show seems to acknowledge the timeline of the games. I mean it directly references events from the games. But that makes the series itself make even less sense than if it was just its own thing. Hate both main character daughters. They are insufferable. Wore than the mom character from Fear the Walking dead.

Jade and Billy are at fault for everything that transpired in the show and they don't even acknowledge that fact. First thing being trying to expose the company that her father works which feeds, cloth, and houses them for animal cruelty. How was she able to get into the lab and hack cameras and data logs but doesn't know how to use a backdoor to search forbidden sites? Umbrella manages to find someone in the neighborhood on some random block following people on Instagram

Just watching these reviews already stops my heart when Az talks about a new character and all I can think is "please please please god don't let that person be white!" and when it is I just go to "He better be the villain. and not a misunderstood one just pure evil" glad it always is but it's still super scary

I always knew the movies were not good, but I loved Milla Jovovich, so I enjoyed them because of her. When I saw Netflix was doing a series I knew immediately I would not watch it, because no one seems capable of making a watchable movie or series in the past four years, since everyone decided the most important thing is to check boxes instead of getting the best people.
