Richard's life story was very similar to my own unfortunately, aspiring author, exploring my sexuality, trying drugs, being drugged, being abused, attempting suicide multiple times r*ped etc. I had a lot of similar experiences to him unfortunately and yet the beat I ended up missing was parents who could immediately empathize with me, my mother got mad at me when I confessed as if what I was doing was incestuous by 'talking about my sex life' my grandmother treated it like a 'learning lesson' and any man in my family had nothing to say to me. I've had no one to really help me with this except my girlfriend these days but I'm still living with my grandparents at 21, I too have been taking up a project about my life, it's actually a cosmic horror mythology series as a big passion of mine that got me out of my depression was science. I wanted to take the ideas of taking major ideas in science and life and represent them as gods including things such as Quantum mechanics, neuroscience, psychology, anatomy, astrology and including some of my own personal beliefs I've developed over the years. Personally I hope that my series can garner as much success as Richard's especially with how many years I've been working on it, as it has often grown and change with myself

The one movie I can compare Baby Reindeer to is King of Comedy. The 1982 film directed by Martin Scorsese that focuses on a mentally-unwell man portrayed by Robert De Niro. The main character, Rupert, is obsessed with the fictional comedian and his show while wanting to put himself into the entertainment industry to try becoming a comedian. The film is meant to be a comedy, yet like with Baby Reindeer, isn't afraid to display the grim and dark nature of reality, as well as showing how unhinged Rupert is the more he tries to get into the showbiz, to the point he held his own idol hostage. I honestly haven't seen King of Comedy in years, but that's the analogy I can think of when it comes to Baby Reindeer with its dark humour and serious elements.
