Mr. McMahon chronicles the rise and fall of Vince McMahon, controversial businessman and co-founder of WWE. From his transformation of the WWE from a small, regional business into a global entertainment powerhouse to the explosive sexual misconduct allegations that led to his eventual resignation, this six-episode series offers a deep dive into McMahon’s life and his enduring franchise. Culled from over 200 hours of interviews with McMahon himself (prior to his resignation), his family members, business associates and some of the most iconic names in wrestling history, as well as the journalists who uncovered McMahon’s allegations - filmmaker Chris Smith (Tiger King) and executive producer Bill Simmons (30 for 30) present an unflinching, no-holds-barred look at one of the most enigmatic figures in sports entertainment.

My buddies and I grew up with the Ruthless Aggression Era of WWE. Every Monday and Thursday night we’d gather at my house to watch Raw and SmackDown. It was a weekly tradition of ours from middle to high school. 2002-2009 were such badass and unforgettable years of WWE
@ARTSONICFAN990

I share a similar tradition myself. Me & 2 of my friends at school watch wrestling (During the 2000's & 2010's eras.) on our own homes (Smack Down in my case.) & then when we go to school, we talk about it before class starts & during recess. And it wasn't just about wrestling, but also about other sports. What made those days even more special was the fact that I always go to school with a newspaper & one of those 2 friends always asked me if he can check out the sports section real quick, that's what always kickstart those conversations. I miss those days.

@@ARTSONICFAN990 Wow brother I can’t believe how similar that is to how my buddies and I hung out. There was 3 of us as well, we were quiet misfits who often got bullied. I’d always have some WWE magazines in my backpack in middle-high school, and we’d often read them out loud to each other in the cafeteria during our break. We looked up to all those wrestlers so much growing up and thought they were superheroes lol. When bullies gave me a hard time, I’d often imagine John Cena bursting through the walls and coming to my and my friends’ aid, and he’d give those bullies some serious Attitude Adjustments lol. Great times bro, such great times. We’d also play SmackDown Vs Raw on PS2 together quite often! But hanging out together every Monday and Thursday was an absolute must for us. We didn’t care that it was a school night LOL, we faithfully had to watch WWE each week!

@@KenjiMania it depends. On WWE video games, the scratch logo was blurred out in showcase clips from the past. I know when they introduced the WWE Network, they made a deal which they can show the WWF logo on Network content, however they no longer can use the WWF logo on merch. Prior to then, WWE sold golden age themed merch with the original WWF logo, including replica belts (but they weren’t allowed to use the scratch WWF logo). I know there was other content on other platforms, on behalf of the WWE, which the WWF logo was blurred in recent timing. Hell, they used the WWF logo in Young Rock series. But for some reason, they aren’t using the WWF logo in this McMahon docuseries. In this trailer, there is a clip of Vince holding the Smackdown microphone, which has the 1999-2001 Smackdown logo but the side of the microphone cover is plain black. That side of the microphone cover had the WWF logo. So yeah, whatever the legal ramifications may be, they are CGI’ing the WWF logos for this Netflix series. Which it’s a lot better than blurring the logos.

Crazy thing is there's probably even more to dive in. So many wrestlers wrote their own biographies and they all have so many anecdotes of Vince... Always curious what his view points on those instances were. We're closer to the end with his age, health, and the fact they took the one thing that pushed him to always back ... I'm sure this is his last opportunity to tell HIS story.

This is *NOT* gonna be the tell-all, no holds barred documentary that you hope it will be. If Vince is personally involved with this, it'll be as kid gloved as possible while still providing "content." I'm gonna watch it, but I'm still holding out for the Dark Side episode.

This has been in development since 2020. It was originally like you said, a puff piece about Vince McMahon made with the blessing of WWE. But WWE took their name off the project after the hush money scandal broke, and Netflix spent two years remaking the documentary to cover the controversy. Is it going to be a 100% takedown of Vince McMahon and examination of the disgusting culture WWE allowed under the reign of Vince? Absolutely not. Netflix doesn't want that publicity before WWE Raw goes to Netflix. But I'll imagine they are allowed to be extremely negative towards Vince and portray him as the bad guy that he is. With TKO in charge, their strategy for this has been to throw Vince McMahon to the wolves publicly and protect the company from any culpability in the wrongdoing that happened. I think this will be a clear continuation of the narrative that "Vince was a bad guy, but us at WWE had noooooo way of knowing what he was doing behind closed doors".

Itll be like all the documentaries Vince put out like the Bret Hart one where he was portraying Bret as the antagonist & himself as the protagonist that had no choice. Nobody has ever struck documentary gold like this, to have all of the rights, access, countless interviews with the man himself and be deep into putting this together for all of that to then happen mid way through with the resignation and lawsuits etc and assumedly him having no power to stop them talking about that side of things as it's all signed off on already. Incredible, can't wait.

I remember that HBO Real sports interview where he was asked about taking any responsibility for all the wrestlers dying young likely of steroid abuse that worked for him and Vince said he takes "Zero blame for any of it" There are things about the man I admire but that lack of accountability spoke volumes about his character. There was a clear culture of steroid abuse in his locker room that he helped facilitate. The WWF back in the 80''s and largely in the 90's was like a traveling circus non-stop. These boys were worked into the ground and under constant pressure to look like a million dollars or they'd lose their spot.. But he takes no blame for it.. Shameful....
