Why would he be a POS for not seeing it? What about the son talking about Sally`s violence? Or Sally kicking a dude in the face several times at a club because she wouldnt listen to him when he told her to get off the table? Sally beating up a girl at an event? The list goes on. On Ray`s side, blinding a guy with his fingers. Ppl like that, if they show violence in public, we know that nonsense goes on at home. There is no doubt in my mind that Sally killed Ray because she knew he was out with another woman on Valentines day. Probably knew he wanted to split up as well. The forensics didnt match her testimony so Im willing to bet she lied through omission about what her and Ray talked about after he returned home. Sally is POS for not thinking about her kids in that moment. Both Ray and Sally were toxic, that is for damnn sure.

Your only seeing Ray from his killers perspective even the blinding story there where no charges brought against him so who's to know what really happened and how bad it was you would think that someone who's truly injured that badly would properly document it. if I was blinded by a roidraged bouncer at a club i would sue the shit outta them the place would be shut down and belong to Me when I was done suing them. It's easy to paint a monsterous picture of a dead man they can't defend themselves. Just like when he was alive in the kitchen cooking food with back turned and a roidraged sally walked in and pointed a 12 gage shotgun at him. He didn't stand a chance. With her kids in the house at that they remember the smell of burnt copper and chard flesh. He was shot with a weapon capable of putting down a charging grizzly bear. Not just once but twice the first shot hit him perpendicular to his body which means while he was cooking she came in and cocked the gun at him likely he began to slowly turn around and attempt to reason with her but before he could come full circle she shot him. She basically shot him in the back but worse it ripped through him sideways a fatal wound he could of been shot on the operating table and there would have been nothing they could do to save him. Then while he was on the ground likely begging for his life asking why? She came back and shot him in the face while he was on the ground before calling the police she covered him with a sheet. This was no act of self defense it was cold blood murder. You can still hear him in the 911 call growning after his jaw was blown off. She disfigured him. Insult to injury considering there was no way he could of survived the first blast anyway all that blood loss he'd of been unconscious by the time paramedics arrived and he would never regained consciousness again. How could look past these gory details and feel bad for her? She's is as the prosecutioner said one of the most evil and violent people he's ever dealt with the fact she's back on the street after committing such a horrific and unjustified act is shocking. Unbelievable if it was the other way around he would of never seen the light of day again that man would spend the rest of his life in prison. But instead he's in the ground had closed casket funeral she destroyed him so bad his family couldn't even have a open casket funeral for him. She robbed him of even that little bit of dignity. She could of left the same way she left her last abusive relationship she was in before she met Ray. His friend only left for a moment to go get a bite to eat and when he returned it was blood bath in there.

This was definitely one of the best true crime docs out there, one that presents the different sides and keeps in mind what they're presenting. Definitely a sad circumstance, and you can tell the children have good hearts and are/have been deeply affected by it all. It's tough and while I will never condone murder, defending ray is rough. Little spoilers, so avoid if not caught up.................... Ray was married to her, SHE was the one paying the bills and supporting him entirely, and yet he's out cheating on her and beating her and the kids as if it was his job... All the talk about he was leaving her, yeah only from his FRIENDS perspective, he wanted his cake and to eat it to, have the hoe on the side(yes a hoe, she knew he was married yet went on & claimed it was "true love stuff, the type of love they make poetry and movies about" LMFAO). Ray wasn't leaving because Sally was supporting his ass and Mary wasn't going to do that. Bottom line, it's a tragedy, mostly because of what the children had to endure(no doubt Ray was beyond abusive, you can just see it in all 3 of their eyes when speaking about it), but I shed no tear for a man who not only is cheating on his wife like it's his hobby, but then also beating children and his wife. Anyways, rant over, anyone on the fence should watch, great doc and DAMN, the end of the doc will definitely hit you, if it doesn't you may not be human. I wish the best for all of them, and I can relate in many ways, prayers with them.

This is how monsters get away w abusing their spouses, because so many of their friends say “he’s not a bad guy” and they don’t know the truth of what happens behind closed doors. And then that “he’s not a bad guy” mentality passes on to others who believe that. I once had an older female friend and she was somewhat unique, she said that this guy who to me seemed like a harmless good timing drunk had broken her hand once and done other things. I thought “maybe she’s exaggerating” and then one day I was there and I heard him whisper something to her so vile and threatening and immediately my blood boiled and raged and I immediately pushed myself in front of her and told him to get the hell out of there, (he was maybe 5ft so I could have taken him, especially then because I was a little more muscled) or something to that effect. Never again will I assume that someone is a good guy just because they seem like it.

This was an interesting case and there were many factors to consider. But I believe if she had of stopped after the first shot . She would have most probably been found not guilty. However the evidence of the 2nd shot contradicted her account of what happened and subsequently she was found guilty of 2nd degree murder. But I believe the sentence was very extreme and excessive. The 2 things that stand out to me was how calm and passive her demeanor was on the 911 call and how poised and well adjusted she seemed after 25 years of incarceration. That takes alot of discipline and desentitzation.
@kyaraAthena2 жыл бұрын
We saw a bit of her life and it helps put things into perspective. She was abused all her life, she thought it was "normal", beat up at home as a kid, then beat up by the first husband, then beat up by the second. Yeah, she was badass and strong, but from a young age she has been abused and that messed her up I think. The fact that she doesn't look like the movie cliché of a victim, a pristine helpless little princess, really doesn't bode well with people for some reason. She's a marine, she's also violent with others because she has learnt to take out the anger of the abuse on others too. She is not perfect. But she is also a victim. Definitely a sad sad case, devastating for the whole family and friends.
@anonanon93852 жыл бұрын
@@kyaraAthena agree I believe all those factors you mentioned are accurate. However the 1st cartridge found in the bedroom and not the kitchen and the blood splatter from the 2nd shot in the lounge room contradicted her statement . That she was being attacked by Ray and as result she believed her life was in danger so she fired the 2nd round in self defence. If that is what really happened the 1st cartridge would have been found in the kitchen where she claimed to have been when she turned to eject the shell to.relad the 2nd cartridge. The blood splatter would have been on the outside of the lamp shade just as lawyer pointed out and not under the lamp.shade as he indicated. The evidence contradicted her testimony and as much as what you have pointed out are all relevant factors her admission for her motive and intention did not match the evidence so she was tried in court The jury couldn't ignore the fact that the 2nd shot did not corroborate her version of events and as a result she was found guilty of 2nd degree murder. But the sentencing was excessive.

@@anonanon9385 sorry, didn't mean to sound like I was trying to contradict you, just adding to it after reading loads of comments i found more sense in what you said. The 2nd shot definitely doesn't add up story-wise, I don't think she even remembers it properly, I do think she snapped after the too much "usual choking " and went for the 2nd in blind anger to make it all stop once and for all. Which as much as I feel for her, it has consequences sadly and deserved to serve some time for it, you also agree that 25 years was excessive; how long would you have given her? I said about 5 sounded fair, with a lot of emphasis on therapy for her ptsd and abuse history. The whole family seems to have started to repeat the cycle which is also extremely sad. Hopefully the son does well in rehab and the daughter won't let anyone hit her again like she said. I really hated to see the pain in their eyes :(

I don't doubt that she was abused by her husband. He was a monster! You can see it in the home videos when he says to the kids "I'm officially your dad so I can take this belt to you" The fear in her daughters eyes was haunting! But I also think that the violence and dysfunction went both ways between Sally and her husband. It's not like this wasn't a fair fight. They were both pumped full of steroids both equally strong! The abuse went both ways. I think Sally was more concerned about the fact that her husband was cheating on her than the fact that he was beating her kids. In most domestic violence situations the victim is trapped. She can't leave because he threatens her life if she tries to leave. This was not the case here. Her husband was going to leave her for another women so Sally had the choice to leave with her kids. She was one of the lucky ones that had that option but it was her jealousy and rage toward him that caused him to end up dead. Where was this rage when her kids were being abused? She put her kids through Hell! I wouldn't be as forgiving if I were them!

Imagine how much less severe punishment Sally would have gotten if she had access to a top defense attorney right away, before she did those interviews with police. That prosecutor who made everything about himself (I, I, I) can afford to be so arrogant only because he has racked up many, many victories against overmatched opponents. Talk about systemic inequities.

This was a great doc. I believe sally was definitely being abused , but it’s not the reason she killed her husband. She killed him because he was leaving her.

@Johnny Longshlong He raped, strangled and psychologically abused her. Ray was on 5 steroids and literally blinded a man while working as a security man. He was a monster

@Johnny Longshlong she’s not “playing the bartered wife”….SHE WAS BATTERED, ABUSED AND RAPED!!! Children were beaten by Ray the monster too!!! This is why men keep harming women and being abusive because no one wants to believe the woman until it’s too late!!

@Johnny Longshlong did he (your angel Ray) not leave someone blind?!?

I feel sorry for the kids. I believe Sally and Ray were in a volatile relationship. She had a temper, he had a temper. Ray was not a saint but I found it hard to believe the battered woman syndrome narrative. Sally was triggered by Valentine's day. She kept mentioning that day often. I do believe the narrative that Sally was more into Ray than he was into her. She was upset that he spent that day with the mistress and not her. An altercation occurred because of it and Ray ended up getting shot (2x). I do believe it was more of an accident "of rage" than I feared for my life narrative. Edit: I don't wish death on Ray and I don't think Sally is a bad person. I just don't think she was Betty Crocker cooking meals and Ray just came home randomly attacking her. I think they were both aggressive with each other. He was just bigger. And that's not a defense for him.

Absolutely. They were two violent, toxic people, with poor emotional regulation who trauma bonded.

I just feel horrible for the children. Those two were aggressive towards each other and were just toxic. The children admitted to that and so did their friends. Sally clear as day admitted to pointing the gun at Ray while he was making food and that’s when he turned around and came at her. She also lied about going back to the bedroom to reload. Her daughter came out after hearing the first shot. Then, while Ray was on the ground, in front of their daughter, Sally shot him in the face. Even her kids, as they got older, they stopped speaking to their mom and told people their parents were dead. When they interacted in the documentary is was awkward😂 Sally didn’t deserved to be beaten and Ray didn’t deserved to be violently murdered. They should’ve just divorced one another instead all the cheating and then being violent towards one another in front of the children.

I don’t believe everything Sally says because some of it doesn’t make sense. I think the reason she keeps saying her memory is bad is to account for that. Anyway she did her time and I’m happy she can make a fresh start. Although I totally get where the daughter was coming from when she said she felt Sally chose Ray over her kids.

And the circle of abuse continues. I lost a good friend who allows her husband to do the same. I feel for her child, a girl. And hope she doesn't turn out like the mom or worse, the dad.

I don’t get it :) I mean..those “friends” defending him like “he was in love with another person,he wanted to get out from that relationship” but he kept beating her and her children! And all those times when she worked to give him money?when she lost herself to please him? If you are a good man why he treated her children like that? Why to break her nose? Just let her go! I’m sorry but I’m not buying the “good guy” story :) Ohhh and that Daniel Goldstein? 🤦🏻♀️🙄no words needed! I’m just happy to know that she’s doing ok! I wish her and her family a peaceful life! They all deserve it! 🍀

That dickhead prosecutor clearly has never been through abuse in his life. She took a nap because whatever was awaiting her was less worse than what she already suffered from. It's called relief you ignorant asshole. Dickhead needs his ass beat.....hard. Sorry had to edit

Years earlier she threatened her first husband with a gun ,…this time she went the distance. So did he beat poor Sally too ? Yea right !

The DA on this case was way more interested in moving up the ladder than in what the circumstances of a case was. Things like ‘she lay down and had a nap in the interview room - therefore she felt no remorse.’ NO. Someone who has been through a trauma like that and who has not had any sleep that night and been interrogated for hours - is going to be tired. Seriously?! And ‘she was a body builder herself so why she scared of her husband?’ Hmm. Have you seen the size of that guy? Do you know what drugs the husband was packing? Even with her build, he could have snapped her neck like a twig! ‘Oh, she wasn’t in imminent danger…’ just that he had been STRANGLING her a few minutes beforehand and was hopped up with steroids. Did she get angry? Yes. Was the anger sustained for more than a few seconds? Yes. Should she have gone to jail? Yes. Should she have been treated like she was an unfeeling psychopath who planned her husband’s demise in advance of the time period? No! Quite frankly that seems to describe the DA more than it describes Sally. (Listen to what her young son had to say when the police let her children visit her for a few minutes while she was being questioned straight after the shooting, to get a picture of what was going on in that house at the time.) This whole sorry saga is a classic tale of why it is not a good idea to mix anabolic steroids and bodybuilding.

I saw the other videos regarding it before I watched the second episode of the show and at first I thought she was so obviously lying and just trying to cover herself up. But after watching it all and seeing the way her kids described everything and talk about what had happened, she just seemed like a loving mom who tried her best for her kids. Cried my eyes out like a baby when she apologized to her daughter for what she did
