She did an Australian movie called "The Light Between Oceans" I'm Australian and I'd never heard of her at that time. She played an Australian in the movie and she totally nailed the Australian accent. When I googled her name I couldn't believe that she was Swedish. I actually thought it must be a mistake but of course she is Swedish. Many overseas actors have tried to do the Australian accent and made a mess of it....not Alicia....it was perferct!. Excellent movie and she was great in it. Highly recommend it.

The fact that we speak English well has nothing to do with our education system
@supertotoro
@supertotoro 2 жыл бұрын
Exactly, our education suck. We speak English well because English and Swedish are similar languages but more importanly we are a small country heavily influenced by american and brittish pop culture and media. Also, because we are a small country video games never (at least when I was young and I think mostly still as well) don't get translated to Swedish) so I even had to play Nintendo games in English when I was young. This definitely is the main reason I grew up and was able to speak somewhat decent English already in my mid teens.

I had to laugh at the cold water question. When my brother & I were in Scandinavia, one of the hostels we stayed in was at the end of a fjiord. We saw some kids swimming around in the water, having fun. Luckily, my brother went in first. He immediately ran back out, with a solid line across his thighs from where the cold water had turned his legs red. 😄 Our friends in Stockholm later joked that we weren’t Vikings.

@@fmcm7715 Mate I was married to an Irishwoman for twenty years. If I added up all the time I sat in their living room waiting to go somewhere I would have an entire extra life. 11:00 meant maybe after 2 some time, maybe. Evening meant any time between 6 and 12, there was no way to guess. If I was told we were going to the pub that evening, I would arrive at 7, sit till maybe 9, then we'd talk about going, then leave at maybe 9:30-10:00 and then arrive in time to bolt several pints down our necks before kicking out at 2AM or thereabouts. This was way out in the country in Tipp mind you. Urban times may be more realistic.

@@ThreeFontStreet I don't get these comments.. Who cares if she's darker than the tales of Scandinavian fairies... And the comparison with Southern European countries... Disgusting. Please Hollywood has damaged you for real yall there are tons of blondes pale skin and all that pathetic idea of" perfect "features for some countries in other countries like France Spain or Italy, I am not saying that these features are pathetic but thinking that you have to be blonde if you're from a specific country it's just ignorant. But it is a fact that most movies represent these people sometimes as southamericans which is no problem but it's just not that accurate, because most of them are truly indians. You see movies where they portray royals as dark as coal when they were red heads. It's called ignorance and its majority comes from the states sadly. Mediterranean countries have been ruled by different cultures Celtics, Iberian, barbarics, Romans, arabs... Not to mention that there are plenty of darker Scandinavians. (like beautiful vikander) I've got family on both sides of the continent and woah the pale and redheads Come from northern Spain and most people there are pale as Casper and I've been there visiting a lot. But man it's a bit weird discussing the tone of her skin these comments shouldn't be a matter of opinion. I guess.
