This win always annoys me, not because Vikander isn't talented, far from it. The reason is that she is in no way supporting in The Danish Girl. She should of been nominated in this category for Ex Machina and then in leading for The Danish Girl instead of Jennifer Lawrence. BAFTA and Golden Globes got it right by putting her in leading. By doing this stupid category fraud, it has denied Winslet her second Oscar :/
@PalmurcioWorld8 жыл бұрын
I was also rooting for Kate, she was amazing in Steve Jobs and she was a real supporting.
@mistasparxxx888 жыл бұрын
It has nothing to do with the Oscars per se. The blame lies with the studio who funded the film as they submit the actors/actresses into whichever category they feel they will most likely gain enough recognition to receive a nomination. I also think Vikander in The Danish Girl should have been submitted in the lead actress category but it wasn't to be. Rooney Mara should have been submitted in lead as well, but the studio didn't want her and Cate Blanchett to go against each other for Carol.

Alicia was outstanding in the Danish Girl, and she deserved to be nominated for everything, but this award should've gone to either Rooney Mara for Carol, or Kate Winslet for Steve Jobs.

I can't believe Rooney Mara didn't win, I loved Alicia's performance but Rooney's performance was extraordinary.

+Thomas Mahari I think both are extraordinary (Rooney more than Alicia), but Rachel McAdams should have won, or Jennifer Jason Leigh

Rooney gave us SUCH an incredible performance. She and Cate Blanchett should have won their respective awards.

Vikander did give a solid performance, but I think Leigh was much more deserving for this award

I agree, and she totally should have won. Her or Jennifer Jason Leigh, although if I had it my way Rooney Mara would have won lead actress and JJL would have won supporting

I thought the Academy might finally honor one of the most underrated actresses but nope. Jennifer Jason Leigh deserved that Oscar.
