I am glad they decided to speed up and do their season now because I don’t think they could have done another season of him being this freaking clueless. His thing with marina was such a head scratcher. No man that loves a woman feels nothing when he is told she loves another. But I guess he is about to understand that on a whole new level lol. Can’t wait for him to see how it truly feels when the woman you love showers her attentions at someone else. I think that is just going to be gut ranching for him who played the marina thing so aloof. He will realize the difference really quick when he can’t stand pen being touched or even smiling at another man. He has set the trap for himself and walked into it on his own two feet oh the irony.

I LOVE how taking things for granted is explored in such a subtle but emotional way. Colin never signing her dance card, taking her into rooms alone, not thinking through how his words could effect her desirability and prospects, and him just feeling so comfortable in the fact that Pen will always be there for him is all such a perfect set up for the new season! Nicola is truly an outstanding actress. She conveys so much emotion through her eyes. The scene around 9:50, before he says “you don’t count,” is truly a masterpiece in terms of her acting. I can see every single emotion in her eyes. From the initial sorrow and jealousy when she thinks Colin met someone, the the brief flicker of hope when he says he got to know someone he’s known a long time, the heartbreak at the brief mention of Marina, and even the anger/bitter acceptance when he says she doesn’t count, I can even see moment of incredulity where she’s clearly thinking “is this guy serious?”. She conveys so much emotion without uttering a single word!!!! I think it’s my favorite scene showcasing Nicola, truly shows how good of an actress she is

I think the issue lies in the plots that unfold on the last 4 episodes that made it feel rushed. Colin made (I think) 4 love declarations, in which one is inmediately followed by him being angry and going back on his grand words which is understandable but at the same time kinda... 🤨 Also the whole plot of Lady whisteldown gets watered down due to the amount of subplots "resolutions" (some of them truly end in nothing) that are crammed up on the last 4 episodes, as if there was no time left. In my opinion, they should've make the whisteldown reveal happen through Eloise while Colin was helping Penelope and Debling became a prospect. That way, Colin anger would be subdued by his jelousy, you make an episode where he is angry and distances himself while Debling starts romancing Penelope, which results in him getting over himself and kinda getting closer. The plot then can progress with their love story, keeping Lord Debling and Cressida storyline. The episode of the air balloon could've been replaced. And there...we have the pacing fixed, the anger should've been first to leave a bunch of episodes filled with love, and I would've reduced the love declarations to 2, have so many of them made them loose gravitace.

Aside from that comment in season 2, Colin has been a good friend to Pen. I don’t understand why he must suffer just because she fell in love first. I love Pen and I still think she has done questionable things by using her power as Lady Whistledown. I have just watched Season 3 without any background of Colin and Penelope's story from the previous seasons. I must say I kinda regret not watching any clips like these from the past seasons even after rewatching season 3. OMG, I am totally hooked and I have been religiously devouring every interview and content they have together here on KZbin. They are such a fantastic couple! I love Nicola and Luke's friendship and on-screen chemistry is indescribable. They looked so genuinely comfortable around each other. Some say the part 1 and their story was rushes but unlike other seasons they are both recurring characters and friends who both cared for each other more than others even for colin he loves her like no others not even with Marina but is oblivious. That is why we can jump right into the highlight of their story in this season

There's also a lot more to go through this season which is why I think people think it's 'rushed'-- S1 and S2 didn't feel rushed because there was less plot. The plot was more simple-- Daphne's dream is to be married and have kids to an awesome love match. She gets deemed the diamond. Bro is cockblocking her. Meets someone but can't be with him because shennanigans. Marraige shennanigans, lie shennanigans, HEA. It was fine but it was a pretty simple plot and there was more happening with side characters. In S3 there's Pen's glow up, her looking for a husband, her humiliation, her redeeming herself and nabbing Debling, all weaved through Colin realizing his feelings for her. In part 2 there will be lots happening, Pen being Lady Whistledown and her friendship with Eloise and all that falling down around her and her secrets catching up to her etc etc. So because Pen is LW there is *so much* to get through because of what LW means to the show. And because Pen is a more complex character. So I think that's why they got them 'together' by Ep 4 whereas Daph was 5. Plus you are right, they have been friends a long time and we saw that over the other two seasons so they are more established characters. While I think they could have *maybe* made Colin suffer more obviously or written the suitor stuff a bit better to be a bit more satisfying for the viewer (like they could have added a bit more at the end of Ep 3 when Colin is staring at Debbers and Pen, like him feeling more tortured would have been nice) I agree it's in Colin's nature to act once he has a realization. I also don't think Colin's suffering is quite over yet as P2 isn't even out yet, and he doesn't know the secret.

Every few minutes I'm screaming "COME ON!!" Because it's so effing cute. Any reason why Colin stayed SO clueless for SO can be said to be Penelope's f*cking fault. Eloise told her that when tormented by love and do NOTHING to find out if it can be true would be pointless!! Penelope is torturing herself! Colin has been a GOOD FRIEND. They've known each other since they were children! In Season 1, I feel like she was still even using a childish, more high pitch voice. He saw her as his FRIEND. and there's more to this relationship on paper than we as an audience get to see. WHICH IS SIGNIFICANT BECAUSE THEY BOTH LOVE WRITING AS A FORM OF COMMUNICATION. She responds the most to his letters from his first trip. He went to Greece because SHE SUGGESTED Greece! Am I OUT OF MY MIND!?❓⁉️❓ I don't know where the Colin hate comes from!! Is someone a villain for being clueless? Is someone evil for being stupid?? 🧐😊 And he's only super stupid about some things. It's sh*te for Penelope that one of the things that he's so blind about is her devotion. That it's not purely friendly. That people generally don't give so much to each other without a deeper kind of affection. But at this point, he seems to have had flirtation, and Familial love. Even his feelings for Marina were so innocent! He was equally BLIND!! (Which she tells him to his face and season 2!!!) They fit. I'm dead decided that I need a hold like a conference or something to lambaste the haters. ❤Polin!

The words he chose were really harsh when you KNOW Pen is in love with him. But what he really meant was: You are an exception. She is the only female besides his sister he still wants to talk too. He meant it as a compliment, she heart an insult and rejection, because of his bad wording of course, but also because she has no self esteem and every compliment seems like an insult. Other example: She got 3 compliments for her dresses (S1 from Marina, S2 from Edwina, S3 from Colin). Her answer was always: "Do not mock me!"
