You should do a follow-up. I have this router and a netgear nighthawk cm1200. The router hasn't been playing nice with the app (constantly disconnecting -- least that's what the app says) but the wifi devices are still working even though the app says it isn't connected. So I restart the device, app works for a few days and then same thing. Tried reflashing firmware and resetting the settings but hasn't made a difference. Pretty frustrating overall.

The nighthawk app really is not great. Netduma have an Alpha app which is worth looking at but the web UI should be used.

It’s a month later but no you don’t have to replace your router with this one, you can still use your old router for the other people in your house for basic needs.

Does DumaOS have SQM cake to remove bufferbloat? Have OpenWrt on my router (WRT32X), and SQM is the best thing I've seen to completely eliminate bufferbloat in gaming.

The algorithm is Codel and works in a similar way to cake but is not so hard on the CPU.

@@Minpeace Thanks for clarifying. Yea I run SQM codel and cake on my WRT32X (tried them both) made a huge difference to eliminating bufferbloat, I'll give the XR1000 a good look for upgrading then.

Very little will improve ping other than being physical closer to the server. Has nothing to do with internet speed. QoS such as SQM will reduce bufferbloat which helps lag under high network load is all.

@@JFinns all QoS needs to be implemented in a way where it works as intended and so SQM regardless if it’s cake, fq CoDel relies on how well its built in and then algorithms behind it.

Hi pal, I don’t understand why companies change security to a subscription model in routers apart from ASUS. This is ridiculous. We fork out shit load of money but they ask for more. I loved this device but That’s the only reason I’ll buy Asus.
