I’m 45 and I’m a white guy that lives in the mountains of East Tennessee but I lived in many places as a kid growing up, Fayetteville North Carolina in the early 80’s till 85 when I was 7, then Raleigh for a year then on to live with my Dad in DC. Ended up back in the country for jr high and high school in Bristol VA. I said all that to say this. All of us who grew up back then were probably affected by in some type of way by drugs, like you saying that song was inspired by B.B on PCP. I think about now with how Fentanyl is killing so many people and I think about how many people that are my age that grew up with drugs around and can only imagine how many great people would’ve never made it to become singers, actors, rappers, athletes and well pretty much any other profession if that deadly crap was around back then. I hit play on this with some skepticism. Lots of great comments. But still, this is someone covering my FAVORITE rapper of all time, Mr Brad Jordan. I mean...im 45, when i discovered this song way way back in the day, it set the standard for all rap for me. This cover wont ever hit that high water mark, but it IS a beautiful tribute. The music was on point, easily the highlight of the song. I think Scarface, Willie D, and Bushwick (RIP) would love it.
