We are also not our habits. I learned this down to my bones through studying the Alexander Technique for over three years. (I have another 1 1/2 years of training to become a certified teacher.) The first thing I learned from AT lessons was that I was causing all my own pain but it has taken years to learn how to let it go. Alexander calls it Inhibition. With practice we can inhibit the impulse to instantly get pulled into our reflexive habits and give ourselves a chance to make a new decision. Of course learning to free the body, also frees the mind. 🤩

@@wildeevolution I love this. ❤️ We are the source of our suffering. “We can inhibit the impulse to instantly get pulled into our reflexive habits.” Powerful! Thank you. 🙏

I have a banking background too! Reflecting on our name is quite interesting and your message speaks to me… I had a name change with marriage and then again with divorce. A name is a “label” but who I am, is who I am. Neti, Neti 💛

@@dianesgardeninspiration Ah, very nice, Diane. We have another thing in common: banking and a KZbin channel. 😃 So true what you say about a name being a “label”. Thanks, as always, for your good words. ❤️

There is one advantage having a Catholic background, and yes, I was baptised with no less than four names. Though I said goodbye to the concept of 'faith as a set of rules to live by' part of what you are seen as is the image you project. That is something we all do, I think. I can be as blunt as the 'Dutch', as you well know by now. It is never a complete picture what we portay facettes are hidden, only to be discovered by some or by more. Used my second and third name regularly, it is easier to see the tourist side when I actually name that. And as with most people there is a darker side too. I think that is over a lifetime, multiple people have seen a different part of what is 'in that name'. 😊

The process of detachment is quite the journey, Mike, The Klesa of attachment is a sturdy one. Neti Neti, 'this is not me, this is not me' can help after deep study of the other klesha's. It is a part of Raja Yoga, that contains all wisdoms of Ayurveda. A warning of illusion to think one can do such after a video 😉

@@tinekejoldersma Thank you, Tineke. 🙏 The journey of detachment is indeed profound, but it need not be a prolonged or complicated one. The Self is already beyond all attachments. Neti Neti is a powerful tool, but it is not the only one. Through direct inquiry into the nature of the Self, one can immediately experience the truth of their being. Dogma can become another form of klesha (corruption), yet another obstacle to reaching a state of liberation (moksha), hindering the immediate recognition of one's true nature. To believe that enlightenment or self-realization must follow a prescribed path, bound by time and effort, is an attachment to belief itself. It becomes a postponement of the experience of being-something that is already present. There is no need to wait for some future moment or study countless layers of thought before the Self can be known. It is here and now. The invitation is to directly inquire into the "I"-sense, to see where it arises from. In that moment, the illusion falls away, and the truth of who you are is revealed-not as an intellectual understanding, but as a direct experience. The warning is not of illusion but of the attachment to yet another belief system, another method, or another dogma. Let go of the idea that there is something you need to do or become. The truth is already present; it is simply a matter of recognizing it. 😊

@@BetterTogether-UnIr1 Oh, we are always one. The age of illusion is a strong one alas. I always wish people beginners luck, so their path may be easily visible. And recognizable. On the path under every flower a snake, eh. For some, the way isn't the one we walk. May we guide them.

@@BetterTogether-UnIr1I have always believed transformation doesn’t have to be a long and difficult process. It just usually is because we’re so addicted to our suffering. 😅

@ We often identify with our suffering; we take it to be who we are. Through awareness, we can free ourselves from the tyranny of the personality, recognizing that our true nature is not bound by the identity we’ve constructed, but is the vast, unchanging presence that simply is. Thank you for sharing such affirming insights. 🙏 Your words serve as a gentle reminder of the deeper truths within us all. ❤️✌️

If you can't be a pine on the top of the hill, Be a scrub in the valley - but be The best little scrub by the side of the rill; Be a bush if you can't be a tree. If you can't be a bush be a bit of the grass, And some highway happier make; If you can't be a muskie then just be a bass - But the liveliest bass in the lake! We can't all be captains, we've got to be crew, There's something for all of us here, There's big work to do, and there's lesser to do, And the task you must do is the near. If you can't be a highway then just be a trail, If you can't be the sun be a star; It isn't by size that you win or you fail - Be the best of whatever you are!
