Or the author has a functional understanding of EW/ECM. The only weapons useful at range against a spacefaring military would be dependent on accurately guessing where your enemy would be with respect to travel time.

I liked that the antagonist understood that they were not enemies. They were noble without being super men. They lived their values. This story is something that I could see one of our militaries doing for another without being over the top schlock about it. Nicely done.

I had to look up what the dreadnought ship class was. They were ships that specialized in large caliber guns vs other ships that had a wider variety of guns. Who knew?

Dorsal and ventral seem to be the wrong words to use here? “Heavy dorsal armour” when I imagine it looks like a turtle. And when imagined that way, the position of the main guns look funny.

Finally a HMS designation and not the stereotypical USS American designations (in star trek USS doesn't mean United states, it means United systems ship so it's why I always use that for USS and human ships)

Quantity is a quality of it's own! You learn this in games like Helldivers 2. End of mission look at the stats. The higher kills usually have a thousand plus shots taken. Then you have those worrying about accuracy with maybe 300-400 shots and not even half the kills of the happy trigger puller.

George Cross is the Highest Award that can be given to a Non-British Serviceman. It's not like the Yanks give out the Congressional Medal of Honor to Non-U.S. Citizen Servicemen.

Erm, why the George Cross? It almost seems to me the Author is unaware of the differences between the two awards.... Neither is subordinate to the other, both are awarded for Valour above and beyond the call of duty, the difference, is the George Cross is awarded for valour shown either by Civilians, or by military personnel when not in contact with the enemy, which is why so many GC's have been awarded to bomb disposal. The Victoria Cross however is awarded for the same valour IN CONTACT WITH THE ENEMY. Tsssas would not have been awarded the George Cross as the action was most definitely in contact with the enemy, he would have been awarded the Victoria Cross. And yes, the VC can and HAS been awarded to members of other nations militaries.... Usually to Commonwealth members true but I know of at least one to a serving member of the US military.

George Cross do get rewarded by military personnel outside the British common wealth. Victorian Cross is for the Commonwealth military personnel. Else, both would be awarded the Victorian Cross
