Wednesday night 7:00 p.m.. I'm a 70 year young lady. I play bass guitar in a Christian band. We have covered " Come as you are' by Crowder so many times. it is one of my most favorite songs. So nice to see him on the pod thanks so much for having him.

Favorite Crowder Moment: My daughter and I went to the Adventure Science Center in Nashville to see the revealing of that year’s Winter Jam artists. We sat near the front and the lights were off. Then, what seemed to come out of nowhere, the lights came on and there was Crowder singing “Come As You Are” right in front of us. I cried the whole time. That is still my #1 favorite song. I’ll never forget how God used him and that song that night.

The first time my husband ever saw David Crowder was at an outdoor festival and we walked in when he was on the stage. My husband said, “who is that?” and I said, “that’s David Crowder”. He said, “ I thought it was a homeless man!” Glad to hear that David said the same comment about himself. L O L.

I met Crowder in Nashville at Youth Specialties. Myself and a few other youth pastors got to talk with him for awhile after his concert. It was awesome, he is very funny, and a huge heart for God. He allowed us to hold his amazing long go-tee while taking a picture with him.

Hysterical! David is very funny! I recall him being interviewed on a podcast several years ago, where he was talking about how he walks in his sleep. He shared the story of how he went into his closet and peed in a pair of cowboy boots while sleep walking. His wife was watching him from the bed. Such a funny dude.

As a child of the 90’s, I grew up going to Jesus Northwest in Vancouver, WA and Creation Festival West @ the Gorge Amphitheater…. David Crowder is a part of so many of my festival memories! So many years of him leading worship on Saturday nights at Creation especially. Thankful for him and his gifting! Fun podcast! 🫶🏻❤️ Also, John…. It’s Spo-CAN (not CANE) 🫣

The year was 2010. I was on my way back home from working in India for the past 3 months. I had an overnight layover in Atlanta for a 5am flight to Texas. As I'm boarding the plane, I'm walking through first class and I see a guy in a trucker hat. My initial thought was "a homeless guy somehow stole someone's ticket and is now on this plane". Then I looked again and thought "wait, I know that beard". As I approach, I hold out my hand in front of me and shakily say "sir, are you David, David Crowder?" He slowly looks up at me, still half asleep probably and says "yes, yes I am". I then tell him how much of an impact his music has made on me and that we do many of his songs for worship at my church. We quickly shake hands and I walked to my seat to text everyone I know that I mistook David Crowder for a homeless man. 14 years ago and still remember it like it happened this morning.

First saw Crowder (and Redman, Tomlin, Shane & Shane, Fee, Nockels, Hall, et. al.) at OneDay03 in Sherman, TX. Always loved the reggae outro of Make a Joyful Noise - I Will Not Be Silent. Great interview and love what he says about a songwriter's responsibility to have good theology when he writes a song.

I’ve had the privilege to lead a lot of kids to the Lord with puppets. One day I was just finished ministering with a puppet and was walking with the puppet back to where I needed to be and greeted a young man with the puppet as I went. He just stared. I asked if he was ok and he said yes. When I was 6 the puppet had led him to the Lord. It was so cool!

My favorite Crowder memory was back in October 2007 when my wife and I went to the David Crowder Band concert at the Filmore in San Francisco. Phil Wickham was one of the opening acts and had just released his debut album. Crowder also brought out the Guitar Hero guitar and started playing the melody to one of their songs during the concert. That night was truly unforgettable to this very day.

Respectfully, about songs that "just hit" that bring a person out of a funk or make them feel good... remember that the Bible has a lot to say about stuff like that. Principally that the heart is deceitful above all things. We are to approach stuff like this with a serious or sober mind. We don't check our brains at the door because something just felt so right. Just because a song "hits right" doesn't mean it is fit for God's people. Lastly, as a consumer of Christian music, it is my hope that when band members disagree they pray together, argue their points, take 48 hours for personal prayer, & then revisit the conflict. If there's still a disagreement then you don't override the one whose spirit or convictions are still causing them to be uneasy about doing a song. That's my hope/opinion.

I love Crowder's reverent approach to songwriting. Wish Bethel had the same. Some bad theology in some of their songs. But that follows their teachings...
