In this tutorial, I'm going to show you how to create custom pause reasons for dunning activities in NetSuite, tailored specifically to your business needs. You may find that the default reasons provided by NetSuite don't fully cover all scenarios you encounter, such as negotiating new contracts or handling specific customer interactions.
To start, navigate to 'Setup', then 'Dunning', and 'Dunning Pause Reasons' within NetSuite. Here, you'll see a list of all the default reasons available. To add a new reason, click on 'New Dunning Pause Reason'. You'll need to provide a name and a description for the new reason-something indicative of the circumstances under which you'd use it, like 'Negotiating New Contract'.
Additionally, you can define sub-options under each reason to further specify the nature of the pause, such as 'Yearly Contract Negotiation' or 'Monthly Review'. These sub-options can also include their own descriptions. Remember, if a reason becomes obsolete or temporarily unnecessary, you can mark it as inactive instead of deleting it, preserving the traceability of past actions.
