I know all about that problem......especially in 4mm scale with my old railway layout that loaded ballast, we often had far more down on the rails than was good for stock, perhaps network rail need what we used to use, a big vacumn cleaner

Cant believe a Network Rail operative would use his foot like that to clear ballast in front of a moving wagon!

That's why you put a tie in front of the wheels prevents that from happening

Get rid of that digger on the track, put a Plough Brake Van on the back of the Auto Ballaster, make a better job of it. Being in the Plough van was good, until the driver caused a snatch, you ended up head butting the Big Ships Wheel, solid cast iron, yes it hurt. Anyone can drive fast, it takes a Driver to maintain 3mph and drop stone . Especially on an old Loco with no SSC , slow speed control. Pway Army Rule ok.lol

2020 11 18 pst usa. great vid of OLD looking ballast cars. the guy using his FOOT to move rocks off the track in front of a MOVING WHEEL is risking major injury! he could loose his balance and end up with his leg over the track and it being cut off! a stick would be much better!

On the final shots (approx minute 7 and on) it is visible what it actually is that they have done. Namely, drop enormous loads of aggregate (as it is called) next to and inbetween the rails. So much, that the tops of those stretching piles, as they have formed, reach higher than the actual rails themselves, in fact almost burying them. The work as carried out and shown here is just totally and absolutely ridiculous. They have used (deposited) waaay too much rock. What are they trying to do, get it so that every train in the future from next Wednesday on will derail furthermore, be cause there continuously will be loads of stones on the rails?!! From minute 7 into this video on, it also becomes visible what the difference is between the section of rail that has so over-enthousiastically been added this rock material to, and the other rail, the one on the left, that has not received this latest treatment. THAT section is, how rails are supposed to look.
