That film was extraordinarily well made, with interest spots on laid up locos, no unnecessary waiting for road clears, and excellent close up work. A joy to watch! I trust that machine will soon be pounding up the WCML at 180 km/h (it was of course made for the ECML, but no matter).

I loved the 89 wuen it came out originally as the forerunner for The east coast fleet Saw if 88/89 at Doncaster bringing a charter from London for mallard forward . 91003 was sat in bay platform

Such a capable, powerful loco; great to see it fixed and hopefully its electronics will be more reliable. It would have been better to have a `slab end' to be more aerodynamic against a carriage, like the 91.

Love the 37, weren't some of them nicknamed "Slugs"? Either way, I will never forget getting on a Regional Railways Class 37 (with a full diagram of MK3 TSO and BKO) and sitting in the first carriage hearing the good ole engine roaring to life leaving NWP to CDF.

As a point of interest, as the locos departed the yard, the name on the side of the building was "Wabtec Faiveley", is that any connection to the Stone Faiveley who manufactured the pantographs for many of the early AL1 - 6 class AC locos? All the foreign companies haven’t bought anything, the tax payer provided them! That’s how a Tory organised private railway runs. Private companies get paid to do the work and take the profits while the UK taxpayer provides the rolling stock. Hence why so many British built locos are scrapped or in storage.
