Have a look at Geoff Marshall's channel as he has a recent video on flying in that along the West Highland line and what the purpose is for the flights. We get RAF Apache gunships flying low over our house so one like that would be a nice change.

Bit of a stretch. It's a hired helicopter. If its following the rail line it may be NR. But rail lines are also used for navigation. Or maybe a reqd survey reqd. The Police a d Ambulance services use hired helicopters where we live for Emergencies. There may have been info trees or something had got on the line so putting chopper up reqd. But without knowing its not worth being bothered about. Plus why would they send an very expensive to fly helicopter up.

Ian uploaded the footage of the helicopter as interest because a lot of people are interested in NR's work and how they do things. Ian explains this in the description box and says that the helicopter is used to check the track sometimes. No accusations were made about the helicopter so I think you've misunderstood the purpose of the video.
@FixerUK2 ай бұрын
@LizAltnabreac-u8h I do understand, but as you will now be able to tell from some of the comments that not everyone reads the description and will initially misinterpret the video on face value. Sometimes, it may be of benefit to include the description in the video so it doesn't get misunderstood. ✌️

Police helicopters are normally only yellow at the top in the UK with a small patch of yellow on the nose (if any), as they aim to be discreet from below and obvious from afar, the biggest difference between the two in terms of identification is the nose has a lot more yellow on the nr helicopter, it is almost entirely yellow because they aim to be obvious from almost all angles!
