Sadly, this is one of the best NTP videos I was able to find. Most either had no sound / explanation, or went way overboard in what they were covering. I'm studying for my CCENT in 2018, and wanted something easy on NTP. Thanks!

Keith - always love your videos...very informative, concise and engaging. Also - you're a great communicator and teacher and convey energy and passion without trying to crack too many jokes or wander off the topic - which is not easy for motivated educators :) One thing that you've touched on that I would love to see (and would fit nicely into a Micro Nugget video format) would be to do a whole series of short videos on common network protocol, where you use Wireshark to show ARP, ICMP, Traceroute, SMTP/POP3/Exchange, NTP, DNS, FTP, RADIUS, HTTP, etc. sessions/communication from start to finish in Wireshark. You already have some of this, but doing this to help people understand and troubleshoot these applications (and then the same kind of thing for L2 & L3 protocols) work and seeing it all in Wireshark really unpacks and demystifies the whole thing. Then maybe some deep dives into things like HTTP headers and packet detail. Again, you have some of this already, but does this make sense? Thanks for anything you can do on this front and again - always appreciate the info you share and your training style and competency.

Thanks for this, I'm really enjoying your videos lately! Is there a way to force NTP to renegotiate, and if not, what is the default time that it waits for communication with the NTP server?

On the clients... you used the ntp server 10.0.0.1. 10.0.0.1 is configured on the interface on the ntp master. But here is my question :) On the master router... can you configure the ip adress on the SVI(ip adress on the interface vlan [vlan nr])? And use that adress instead to be the ip adress that the client will use to get the time? I hope you can unterstand. regards Lars

UTC is "Coordinated Universal Time", not "Universal Time Coordinated". Yes the acronym doesn't match. It was designed in committee. The French speakers wanted TUC, for "Temps Universel Coordonné" , and the English speakers wanted CUT for "Coordinated Universal Time", so they compromised, and made it officially UTC, so it matches nothing.
