The best way to find growth stocks, key features to keep in mind is as follows: 1. Ensure gross margins are greater than 50% 2. Ensure P/E ratio is less than 100 3. Buy companies that are PROFITABLE, very important irrespective of sector. 4. Debt to equity ratio is less than 30% 5. Current ratio is above I 6. and a Float under 100 million One stock that fits the bill is FLGT (Fulgent)

Very insightful podcast. I'm relearning the basics of cyber security again at the age of 32. The last time I had studied was 14 years ago. I stopped going to high school and went to community college early. Very strange time, nobody asked why I missed a full year of high school when they gave me a diploma. Also nobody asked a 16 year old how I'm in college classes when I signed myself up. Lol. The time in between 17-31 was spent in some troubling scenarios most people stay far away from or one would never see coming. Now that I'm back on this planet, somehow alive, I'm in the beginning steps of getting fundamental certs. This podcast is a great breakdown of the possible paths one can take. No matter who you are, how old you are, what you've done or didnt do..its not too late to do something for yourself. Sometimes it takes people their entire 20s to figure out what's important in life and that's okay. Peace n love A//E ✌🎃🤘

First off, Love watching you guys. Great content! I graduate with a degree in software development this month. Decided I'm going for my masters in cybersecurity. I already suffered, why not? Lol. But what I feel is killing me right now, is not being involved in the community, so relocation is a must. I'm 4 hours away from Dallas. I've taken CCNA courses in high-school did the army thing as a combat engineer for 7 years, machinist for 10 years, and my biggest regret is not applying for jobs I'm not qualified for and not getting my foot in the door. I'm 32 now, so it's not too late. I taught myself programming since I was a kid. Just recently got really serious into it and now I'm eyeballing cyber hard. I've got A+, project+, MTA C# programming fundamentals and R3 corda blockchain developer certifications. My masters has CEH as part of the degree. I definitely want more certs, as much as I hate them. My fear is being in a place where I'm over qualified for jobs, and not qualified for not having real experience. I'm thinking a networking and a cloud certification are my next best bets to be more well rounded. Setting up a home lab is my dream, just not enough hours in the day with my current job and commute. I'm getting into IT one way or another this year if it's the last thing I do. I've put my life on hold for everyone and everything else for far too long. It's my turn! Crazy to hear John say "get that first job, but keep applying" because that's something i only hear on anonymous forums. There is such a giant stigma against job hoppers by so many people, but the reality is that if you want to level up, you're going to be ready before your job is, and the fastest way to move up is by applying out and leaving. That philosophy got me from an unpaid internship to an infrastructure engineer making 6 figures after only 6 years and 9 jobs later

I am almost done the Jr Pen test on THM, and I gotta say, I had to peek at solutions from time to time. I was happy when things worked out and could figure it out myself, but there is many ways around the task that is asked, and alot of times I had no idea where to really begin. But it did make me learn more. If you watch videos on how to do certain tasks but are completely lost, then I would backtrack. But if you understand how they did it, you just couldnt figure out what path to take for the task, youre learning.

I’m doing the IT support certificate from google and it seems like a good fundamental concepts and start to see your videos and also understanding how everything works. There is something to be said for understanding the underlying architecture. I think starting out as a junior network engineer, then making the jump to sys admin eventually landing in your first infosec role is a doable path.

I found the question "what is the best (pentest) certification to get?" as well as 'formal education vs certification' especially interesting. I think much of the time it is industry, and dare I say, HR-driven. A degree or certification is a tangible "something" that can be quantified and get you on to the second interview where you may be able to discuss the CTF experience(s). If one wishes to work for the Dept of Defense (DoD), for instance, count on Security+ as a minimum cert requirement, to be considered. Interestingly enough, CEH and CISSP are regarded as suitable discriminators, as well.

Also, good to note how he explains how you market your skills or your passion for this position. How i started and still going is doing the 2021 advent of cyber, yes i had done things before that, but that is how it really started, and while doing the 2021 advent of cyber i branched of and found full learning paths for pentesting and i'm still working on learning from those learning paths

My advice on training is if the training doesn't excite you, don't waste your time. I hated the Sec+ training, the test and i learned nothing. BUT, i looooove the PNPT training and actually retaining the knowledge.

Great topic! Who hire a security professional does not know anything about its job or the skill needed to do that job, they only know that there are certifications overt there, made for normal people to learn how to do normal stuff. So they will search for certifications in the curricula. Stop, they can't really tell by what you do if you're good at it or not, so, simply put, they will only talk to you if they see the certification on your resume. I've known respectful people, owning certificates for some topic and being noob at that topic at the same time. In our job technology become older very fast and you should keep yourself up to date, the only profitable way to keeping you constantly up to date is working in the field every day and face the real problems coming from your customers. Solving those problems, could be easy or challenging, and the challenging part is what make our job interesting. :-) Cheers, keep safe.
