Even 8 gigs isn't enough. I have a laptop with 8 gigs and about 4 gigs assigned to windows 8 VM. The os I run uses small amounts of ram so with only one Firefox window open and win 8 vm I managed to almost freeze the machine. For anyone trying to download this recently it seems the Kali site has changed some things. OVA file is no longer available, unless I am mistaken. You can download the .iso version instead and run through that set up using other walk through videos on youtube. I.e. how to set up a kali virtual box on windows. This really helped me and I was able to get everything set up. The file for mr robot is still OVA thankfully and that was much easier to set up. I am so excited to hack my first box! let's go! Thanks again Chuck, I have been watching your channel a lot and you are seriously the man. I have been learning to much, so fast. Keep it up!

Currently on Windows 11, so Virtualization Based Security is going to interfere with VirtualBox. It's a bit of a hassle to do and requires a cold boot (meaning actually unplugging the machine and waiting for the caps to drain) but in case anyone else is having issues there ya go.
@vidyajamesu2 жыл бұрын
@JG RM VirtualBox doesn't play super nicely with it, but VMware doesn't seem to mind nearly as much. I've actually not had a huge problem with VBS since I managed to get VirtualBox to behave. I keep hearing anecdotes from people who tried 11 and hated it and I just straight up have not had the problems they have. It ain't been perfect, but I overall find myself preferring 11 over 10 now. It's worth trying for a time, at least.
