It's been over ten years since Sally believed her boyfriend George had been killed in the trenches during the Great War. But George had only been badly wounded and, now recovered, goes in search of his true love.

Two ladies deserve credit for the War Effort, above the many thousands who firewatched, made Spitfires, went fishing, fetched back troops from Dunkirk... Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, gave our King strength, and Gracie Fields gave our people strength. Good Lancashire humour in the face of all adversity.
