Its fantastic to see this happening by Varamis Rail, Intercity and Royal mail. I like how this seems like a revolution but this had been the way of transporting goods was how it was before the lorry came along. I hope this way of good/ freight transport increases and helps subsidise the rest of the system

I remember seeing mail being transported from St. Pancras years ago. More things should be transported by rail.

Varamis Rail are a great company. This is thanks to Phil, Simon and the whole team who work at Varamis Rail, parcels can get transported by rail on 100% electric. Also applies with DB Cargo using the Royal Mail units. With trains travelling from Willesden to Shiledmuir in Scotland!

Using passenger trains to carry parcels and small freight. Amazing. Pretty sure this was being done from the very early days of railways right up to the early 1990s, when it was deemed not to be cost effective. Hardly revolutionary therefore.

Very entertained by the prospect of the return of the guard's van to express passenger trains, and by NR staff in railway-standard all-over safety orange having to wear yellow hi-vis vests on top of that to be safe in the Royal Mail depot.

'Innovate'! By these NR puff pieces sure know how to specialise in verbal heavy lifting! Thirty years ago when the class 325's were built for Royal Mail's previous (short lived) 'innovation' even then they thought it a great idea to put the knitting up to avoid the present day 'innovation' of having to attach and detach a diesel to travel a mile from terminal to main line. I guess we can only wish for a genuine innovative approach to this latest re-birth of an idea - a LONG TERM approach which lasts the distance!

Way back in the British Rail days parcels delivery was done under Red Star where you had to go to the station named on the delivery note and hope and pray the parcel was there. Then where the days

Yes it was done many years ago but at least it’s coming back slowly 👍🏻 They pass the back of my house on the West Coast main line just north of Preston at Barton 🤩 Maybe in the future they could reopen Preston’s & Stafford’s parcel platforms that are still their and any other old parcel platforms. Next is stop the strikes as that kill any good it’s doing and stall confidence 😫 As the HGV driver don’t strike 🙄

Not new,this was normal in the 1970's and for at least 100 years previously.Passenger trains had guards vans for mail,parcels and luggage.There were dedicated "Paper" trains carrying Newspapers overnight. Stopped because not economical or some such guff. Some one seems to have reinvented the wheel.

They could also revisit the past by reintroducing dedicated carridges added off peak long distance passenger trains. You could also revisit cargo transfer while the train is moving, with todays technology (robots, drones)

I needed to know why they don’t dig a tunnel and do an extension for the main line Train so that they can extend the unused abandoned underground train stations. Why couldn’t they use the part D78 Stock train doors on the sides and also restructure the front face of the A60 and A62 stock that includes the class 313, class 314 and class 315 remix and make them all together and also redesign them an overhead line and also make them into Five cars per units and also having three Disabled Toilets on those Five cars per units A60 and A62 stock trains and also convert the A60 and A62 stock trains into a Scania N112, Volvo B10M, Gardner 6LXB, Gardner 6LXC and Gardner 8LXB Diesel Engines and also put the Loud 7-Speed Voith Gearboxes even Loud 8-Speed Leyland Hydra cyclic Gearboxes in the A60 and A62 stock, class 313, class 314, and class 315 and also modernise the A60 and A62 stock and make it into an 11 car per unit so it could have fewer doors, more tables, computers and mobile phone chargers. A Stock Trains and also having 8 Disabled Toilets on those A stock trains. why couldn’t we refurbish and modernise the Waterloo and city line Triple-Track train tunnel and make it larger and extend it to the bank station, making it into a Triple-Track Railway Line so those Five countries such as Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden to convert the waterloo and city line Triple-Track Railway tunnel into a High-Speed Railway lines? The Third Euro tunnel Triple-Track Railway line to make it 11 times better for passengers so they could go from A to B. Then put the modernised 11 car per unit A Stock and put them on a bigger modernised Waterloo and city line Triple-Track train tunnel so it could go to bank station to those Five countries such as Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden. The modernised refurbished 11 cars per unit A stock could be a High Speed The Third Triple-Track Euro Tunnel Train So it is promising and 47 times a lot more possible to do this kind of project if that will be OK for London Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden. oh by the way, could they also tunnel the Triple-Track Railway Line so it will stop from Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex so that the Passengers will go to Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland and Sweden and also extend the Triple-Track Railway Line from the Bank to Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex Stations so that more people from there could go to Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden more Easily. Why couldn't they extend the Piccadilly Line and also build brand-new underground train stations so it could go even further right up to Clapton, Wood Street can they also make another brand new underground train station in Chingford and could they extend the Piccadilly Line and the DLR right up to Chingford? All of the classes 150, 155, 154, 117, 114, 105, and 106, will be replaced by all of the Scania N112, Volvo B10M, Gardner 6LXB, Gardner 6LXC and Gardner 8LXB Diesel Five carriages three disabled toilets are air conditioning trains including Highams Park for extended roots which is the Piccadilly line and the DLR trains. Could you also convert all of the 1973 stock trains into an air-conditioned maximum speed 78 km/hours (48 MPH) re-refurbished and make it into a 8 cars per unit if that will be alright, and also extend all of the Piccadilly train stations to make more space for all of the extended 8 car per unit 1973 stock air condition trains and can you also build another Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive Companies and can they order Every 77 Octagon and Every 47 Hexagon shape LNER diagram unique small no.13 and unique small no.11 Boilers from those Countries such as Greece, Italy, Poland, and Sweden, can they make Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive speeds by up to 147MPH so you can try and test it on the Original Mainline so it will be much more safer for the Passengers to enjoy the 147MPH speed Limit only for HS2 and Channel Tunnel mainline services, if they needed 16 Carriages Per units, can they use those class 55’s, class 44’s, class 40’s and class 43HST Diesel Locomotive’s right at the Back of those 18 Carriages Per Units so they can take over at the Back to let those Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive’s have a rest for those interesting Journeys Please!!!!!!, oh can you make all of those Coal Boxes’s 18 Tonnes for all of those 147MPH Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive’s so the Companies will Understand us PASSENGER’S!! so please make sure that the Builders can do as they are told!!!!!!!!! And Please do something about these Very Very Very Very Very Very Very Very Very Very Very Very Very Very Very Very Very important Professional ideas Please? I'm pretty sure that's actually a class 321, which was designed with a very similar bodyshell to both the class 320 and class 322 designs

Boxill-Harris, I have another interesting idea for most of you Class 313, Class 314 and that also is including those interesting Class 315 Fans out there, rather than scrapping most of those Class 313's Class 314's including the Class 315's maybe you guys can convert them and including the refurbishment into those Leyland 680 Engine, Volvo B10M Engine, Cummins M11 Engine, Gardner 6LXC Engine, Gardner 6LXB, Engine, Gardner 8LXB Engine, Class 313's, Class 314's and the Class 315's and convert all of them into a 2 Carriages and Three Carriages of the Class 313's, Class 314's and that is including those Class 315's for most of us Class 314's and the Class 315's Diesel Train Fans Pretty Please Are you still going to do this interesting type of Project for all of us out there Please?
