maam i have a doubt that you said that when drg neurons starts firing faster then it stimulate vrg otherwise not . but then how is drg neurons are stimulated at faster pace because the pre botzinger complex has a set rhythm .

maam if pneumaotaxic centre is stimulated by stretch receptors afferents to it ,when volume of lung air increases above 1 L then how is it stimulated during rapid shallow breathing in which lung air volume does not increase that much

It’s not always 1 L...depending upon the volume, there is stimulation. Also it’s not only pneumococci center responsible for switch. Rhythm of pacemaker also important. So it’s a combination. Plus if it’s voluntary, then cortex also comes into play

When pneumotaxic center active - switch to expiration occurs…when it is not able to act…inspiration will continue for long
