I like how Rick is now. He's still a bit of a jerk, but his good side is showing more often. I think he is coming closer to his real self, a smart guy that can be cruel at times but is caring and protective towards his friends and family.

I actually felt it was genuine from the start. It crossed my mind he could be BSing but then that felt so predictable. And I feel the episode prior sortnof primed us to believe he’s changing. I liked it.

@@robmarsh918 Yeah honestly when Morty gets thrown into these wild situations it always sort of reflects badly on Rick. Rick always orders Morty around, while at the same time abusing him. (Flashbacks in the Memory Parasite episode when Morty figures out the parasites can't make bad memories) The inevitable result being that Morty just straight up ignores Rick to such a point that he gets sucked into crazy awful shit. (In the episode 2x2 for example, Morty tries desperately to ignore Rick and save the gaseous alien called "Fart". The end result is that Morty is driven to kill the alien, one of Morty's first kills.) There are many more examples of Rick being petty to try and completely control and destroy Morty on a whim, and it's left Morty with a lot of baggage, especially when he makes a mistake and expects to be taken down for it.

I believed he was really trying during the episode but the way he said “reaching someone sad conclusions about your situation?,” sounded so sarcastic to me. But he totally meant it so I think, like Morty, we’ve all been conditioned to think nice Rick= manipulative/fake Rick at this point.

They said w season 5-6 they were starting a real continuity to the story. So everything they do now will have an impact on later episodes. Characters are changing. They are growing and having their own identity crisis situations. Its all leasing somewhere.

I'm a fan of character development so I like the change with rick. I'll never understand how people can be so against character development when it comes to jerky characters like rick or bakugo from my hero

I mean it's a good twist and interesting to see in the short term and of we were nearing the ed of the show it would be a great ending, with rick finally learning to let people in and treat people (especially family) kindly but I definitely don't want this change to be permanent. I find the A-hole rick to be more entertaining and enjoyable to watch especially during episodes like the vat of acid or the heist episode where we see the depths of Rick's pettiness and self centered nature. For me it is also one of those things where it's about the journey, I very much love watching rick try to improve and the human moments that it leads to, however this season seems to be an astronomical step forward and leaves me wondering how much further he really needs to go. To be clear though I don't want there to end up being a reveal where all of this was rick playing the family (and us) and he hasn't changed at all (or at least I don't think I would want that maybe they could pull it off in a way that I would idk but it's not my immediate preference anyway) however what i would like is for rick to experience some sort of trauma or incident that negates that change or possibly even reverts him to a state worse than before. This goes back to me enjoying seeing Rick's journey since failure and regression are the other half of Rick's experiences and it would be especially captivating when he was so close and has so far to fall

Of course I only hold this opinion in regards to characters that while absolutely terrible characters still manage to be likeable, for me bakugo never pulled that off so I much prefer him the way he is now

I don't get why everyone thinks that Evil Morty is coming back. Didn't he reach his ultimate goal? There is nothing else to do with that character.

I like the new Rick. I also like how they arent just pretending he wasnt a huge asshole for most of the show, like how Morty didnt trust how nice Rick was being due to how bad he had been in the past. I think it all stems from him letting go of his vengeance against Prime Rick and accepting it wont happen, and I think its all gonna come to a head cause Prime Rick will come after him instead.

Thats bc you think of the show as just a silly animation where nothing matters. Theyve stated this is all continuity and its all leading somewhere. Every episode matters. Everything that happens in these episodes will have impacts on the show later. We are seeing the deepest animated show in history.

As long as the show is funny I honestly don't care if Rick is mean or nice. Insofar as I "roll with it" and think of the characters as things stuff happens to, yea I def want Morty to have a genius demigod grandfather who is firmly in his corner. Insofar as I signed up for the show that has trees with testicle roots and an alcoholic chaos demigod literally constructing reality around his own genius, like, whatever, ahole Rick is funny sometimes too And that's not a backhanded dig suggesting I think Rick is getting less funny now so I'm here saying "keep it funny", I just mean if the show does what I came here for it to do I really don't care about the dynamics of the interpersonal stuff. Life is life, it's all gonna swing around and back again sooner or later. Mean Rick, Nice Rick..... Just use the Rick that helps you tell the funny story you wanna tell. I'll play along either way. I'm here for every bit of success and or growth for Rick and for Morty, but like I don't "need" the show to do that. They can be chaos demigods, they can be a kid swimming in the wake of a chaos demigod, they can be ex-chaos demigods, they can be ex-chaos demigods trying to right the world's wrongs; I frankly don't care. Tbh I'm just trying to forget about uber famous people saying "I love Hit-[REDACTED]" for a few minutes. Whatever helps them help me do that, I'm here for. Growth, chaos....... Whatever

As someone who has been watching the show since 2013 (I started it a little late) I like the change in character. I liked the last season of the show too because you could see the same thing going on to Morty. I love characters development and I hope Rick can stay like this, but not too much like that detoxified Rick

I think ulrimately it'll depend on how good the writing is with the new episodes. They have qt least until Season 10 so he'll probably slip back inro the old Rick at some point. Might not atay there though.
