This song has described depression the best for me from all the songs i have ever heard.. Been having depression on and off since i was 15.. i am now 32. This song can make people understand what goes on and how we lock up our feelings in different rooms in our mind. And if we open and let people into those rooms. They would most likely leave just like NF says.. wich leads us to keep locking things into the rooms we create. Its a never ending circle.

his words really paints a picture that's so clear to see despite the blurry vision from all my tears. it's a really amazing gift! I feel that I've lost it myself and only get bursts of that seemingly spontaniously in youtube comments where it's basically the only place when I express myself at all. Managed to write 5 sentences in the notepad for a song yesterday until I thought: "wtf are you doing? you suck at this! there won't come anything out of this. just stop it man" This is what I wrote: Honestly, I don't know what to say it feels like I'm loosing my mind everyday not gonna lie but I don't want to live why should I die? I got so much to give at least that's what I tell myself

I get goosebumps every time I hear this song, specifically when he’s talking about fear and putting him outside “in order to do that I’d have to open the doors, is that me or the fear talking I don’t know anymore” every time I hear that I just get shivers all over. This’ll be a wild journey, found NF a few years ago and his way with words hits differently to anything I’ve ever heard before

Started following after your hope reaction. It's interesting because you discovered him at his happiest. As a long time listener to NF and to see him where he is at now is truly amazing. There is no guess work when it comes to this amazing artist. Always expect his art to be REAL. Hes helped so many people through his craft, I would be lying if I said I wasn't one of them. I appreciate your input from your field of work, experience, and perspective.

"Not knowing you are alone makes a big difference". Very true. Relating to the music lets you know you are not alone. Feeling alone makes it hard to express whats bottled up and needs an outlet. Being in a space where you feel connected can create a space for things to flow that are otherwise stuck. NF's music has helped get me through times that were pitch black.

Doctor, here is an overview of the NF Journey. The first 2 albums, Mansion and Therapy Session NF is still trapped in his house, but in album 3 Perception we see NF start to venture outside, figuratively speaking. In album 3 he escapes but keeps his cage with him. In The Search he finally leaves his cage, but keeps a shopping cart as kind of a portable cage. In the Mixtape we see NF continue on his journey in the song, Lost, Paid My Dues and Clouds and in Hope he is finally trying to break free and believe in Hope. He personifies his emotions. In this song we met Fear and learned he sleeps with Regret. These two will be back in other songs. Also, please feel free to pause as much as you like and tell us your thoughts. We want to hear not only your thoughts, but also how you might emotionally connect and why. We are not your patients so feel free to unwind to some degree. But when you pause, always back it up a few bars. to keep context.

Well put, vulnerability needs to be earned. I'd actually elaborate on that by saying, unfortunately we first need to intimately know what we are actually vulnerable to so that we can behave accordingly for ourselves because also kind of unfortunately, we can't rely on the world to be responsible about us for us especially before the world even knows us and being as that telling ones story over and over just takes so much energy, we have to be responsible so that we can be the productive versions of ourselves that we can be proud of because that is important and something everyone deserves to feel about themselves. That's part of where true inner happiness comes from, being able to rely on oneself to succeed and thrive in life from wherever we start. We don't need to get to the tops of mountains we just need to create satisfying and enjoyable secure lives for ourselves.

Great song, first time hearing it. All emotion is useful and necessary. I equate emotions to indicators on the dash of a car. They tell you something is happening, but not how to drive the car. But with emotions, they have to be regularly calibrated by being true accurate and precise with thoughts and beliefs. And they aren't always telling us the same thing. Many things can cause a car to overheat, and many things trigger anger. Sometimes betray, sometimes injustice, sometimes constructive criticism. Some of my thoughts.

I found anger is a necessary survival mechanism. This song is a beautiful analogy of my mental state. I thrived from anger and trauma. I eventually settled down and started to love more. The side effect of slowing down and loving more was anxiety and panic attacks. This is when I realized owning the anger and the animal within me is a necessary trait for my survival.

Ugh thanks NF for bringing all my words back to the forefront of these walls. I have a lot of anger and repressed emotions. I don't know how to even deal with it as I am also a combat veteran. Everyone treats me with kid gloves, how am I supposed to know what to fix when everything is perfect I'm told? I wish I were more creative maybe I'd be able to write my story. I can't treat the PTSD without fighting the anxiety or battling the depression, then there's the disassociation disorder with a bit of codependency and a hero complex. I'm told to not become just another statistic, but it has to be better then living in here, I'll risk it!! hmmm that was not intentional
