Hey everyone! Sorry this dub is maybe shorter than hoped for. To keep you updated; don't worry! I am still watching for updates on the mainline Growthspurt dub. I'm just gonna say it: that Whimsum was a massive jerk. They voiced a problem, Asriel shared how he deals with similar situations while even admitting that it works for him but maybe not for everyone... and they respond with an insult. Azzy didn't say, "Hey, it's no big deal! get over it! It's not the end of the world! You should just do X, that always fixes it!" No, he was trying to be helpful without being pushy, and his kindness received a slap.

Friendly reminder that it's nearly impossible to help those who don't _want_ to be helped, and in today's society, staying a victim or even _fabricating_ your own problems to be "oppressed" by has become _far_ more valuable and desirable than actually getting the help one may need...

@@Zakanuva You have to consider where this comes from though. For years we’ve been collectively, though in different ways, been told essentially to ignore our problems and suck it up. Now that we have easy access to people that are facing the same or similar struggles, a lot of us are realizing that our pain _is_ valid and that it’s okay to feel. Unfortunately, with generations of repression ingrained in us we gravitate towards the extremes. An absolute defeatist mindset vs an absolute ‘any problem you have is your fault, you should just work harder’. Neither is productive or healthy, but I do think we’re slowly moving towards a fair middle. Nobody _wants_ to be miserable, not truly. Emotionally neglected children for example will have outbursts over the smallest things in an attempt to get the attention they need. Much like that, everything you mentioned is a symptom of a deeper issue, even if it may not seem that way on the surface. Just my 2 cents

​@@whenthemoon Very well said. Theres a huge web of psychological lies that we've been told by others, and told to ourselves, that's stopping us from getting the help we need for our issues. Untangling that mess and getting to the root of it all is a hard but necessary first step.

Whimsun? Are you sure you know what neurodivergence is? It's different for everyone. There are indeed heavy overlaps but it's still different. Just because getting outside doesn't help you doesn't mean it doesn't help other people. Getting away from everything and escaping into your own little world is actually very common in neurodivergent people. You not recognizing Asriel's coping mechanism as valid actually makes you sound like the neurotypical one here.

Asriel is absolutely not neurotypical. No one dies, resurrects as a soulless, murderous, suicidal flower, kills everyone they know and themself multiple times, and comes out neurotypical. From what I can tell, he has anxiety, depression, and PTSD at least. Not every neurodivergent person acts the same, and many find healthy ways to cope. Asriel happens to be one of those people. Still an amazing video and comic, though!
