I sold a set of Genelec 8351bs ($12K) and bought these. I mix and master pop, indie, score, particularly for Film/TV and use these now as my primary production and pos-production listening setup. My mixers are better in these than the genelecs. You can barely tell you're wearing headphones with these. I tried the MM-500s and other headphones for mixing and production. For me, these beat them all in the ability to practically work and deliver. There is a little bit of smearing in the upper mids and I've had to pay attention to silbilance that can slip past these. Just throw soothe by oaksound and you're golden. But these, you wont regret it.

I love these headphones. I have large ears so I changed the airpads for a pair of BRAINWAVZ XL Micro Suede Memory Foam Earpads and now I have space to spare and to my surprise it also added a bit more bass and soundstage. The large earpads made them perfect in my opinion. Note: For the amp I use a Schiit Asgard on high amplification and the knob 40% - 70%. These cans needs a juicy amp to deliver full dynamics.

I love these and have used them a few time per week since 2017. The sound works for my mixing and reference needs. Everything is still intact after 7 years of use. They are certainly broke in and not secure to my head like they were when new. I find myself adjusting them occasionally for best comfort. I feel the earpads memory foam becomes flat pretty fast and they need to be replaced more frequently than other headphones. I bought these over the Sennheiser 600HD reference because they sounded better to my ear and were more comfortable for long sessions. Great Video Thank you!

These headphones are also like the HD line in that they truly come alive with a great tube amp. I suggest you give them a go through one if you can!

Good review! Happy you finally get it ) Because ppl should know for hd 600/650 alternatives. Btw I have these for several years, using these on streets with lg g7 and at home with "casual sound" every day with pc2002 power amp (may got tube-like amp soon for more fun). So the top flaps still not loosen are totally fine! Also you may combine dry and accurate thing with more tembre or "fun" stuff. So its up to ppl. Nowdays find good and modern colored dac is hard, so its up to amp or headphones combo.) After r70x a lot of headphones will show their unbalance sound signature very hard, so you will need a lot of time to be able to use another headphones if you had these for a long time. For example I even sold DT 1990, DT 1770 after these. Also I didnt liked hd650, but if its your 1st headphones, HD could be more pleasant choice. They got lush sound with some vaile and not so forward sounding. And yes, the light weight its so pleasurable thing, esp. if you use headphones for 7+ hours every day on your head.) Btw when I used APO in my setup even on -4db I can hear overall sound degradation. Well, I think my system very high at accuracy and quality, so any software tweak will lead to overall sound degradation. (less clarity and etc)

I bought these and have been using them for at least 4 months now. What you've said in your review mostly matches my experience with them! Great review! I see that in the comments, people tend to hate the thick cable that the headphones come with. I agree with them too, but after a while, you kinda get used to it and the cable just stops being annoying.
@Vespyr_ Жыл бұрын
Eh I still wish the cables weren't this annoying. I barely use them because of it. Going to have to find a third party cable that works for these.
@GrandeChute Жыл бұрын
@@Vespyr_ Yeah, I guess they just wanted to make the cable quite rigid to try to match the quality of the headphone. Sadly, that just made the overall experience worse. It just tends to go back in its original "packaged position?" (it just clumps back? I guess?). I'd say, do this : Try to stretch the cable as much as you can, and do this a lot of times. After a while, it stops being annoying and acts as a proper cable (from my experience, it took me about 3-4 days (yeah, took a while.)). But still, I would rather have another cable that isn't annoying right out the box when I first got it.

Your review stands in contrary to other review on KZbin in which it was said that imaging of the sound is rather weak and blends in.

You can bend softly the metal head band to relax the grip on the ears. It’ll loosen up if you bend and hold it. Also, you have good vocal tonality. You should audition for voice acting for games or anime’s etc or narrator.
@weok-doing-things4 ай бұрын
watched this review in this headphones. For anyone interested, I am using them with iFi zendac 2 and to add this a little bit of enjoyment sometimes I use their extra bass magic feature. And it works. The bend tho... Yes it's innovative but two spots in your hair after use is not that good :D They really do mess with the hair but cap can be used. Overall what's most important for my taste - they sound a bit warm, quite detailed and alive - all these characteristics in not high-end priced package and I love them for that. Play some high-res CD tunes - and wuha-la - music streight to the soul

nice to see a fresh review, i was looking at these as an upgrade for my HD560S, is it a viable upgrade or just a side grade?
@gilian2823 Жыл бұрын
Hi the 560s is colder because of that upper midrange but have deeper bass rumble the r70x is more complementary than a upgrade its more like a hd 650 with even slightly more warm mid-bass but a 2 or 3 db more sub-bass that the 650 also even less treble around 8 khz that the 650 but much better soundstage than the 650 not more detailled
@peponline88 Жыл бұрын
Hd600 could be a better upgrade on neutral sound (but not on soundstage) hd6xx could be a better sidegrade if You are looking for a warmer sound.

The wings are super fragile. Not the actual hinge but the pads themselves are held in by two rounded tabs which will snap (eventually.) It isn't inevitable or anything, it's just a weakness the AD series and this one have.
@chuckolatte60010 ай бұрын
Mmm yeah perhaps. But for my big head I push the wings all the way to the sides so I doubt breaking the hinge itself would change anything for me lol

If you really care about vocals and mid in-game (like a visual novel or story-based game) then HD600. Otherwise the r70x will offer a more balanced representation of the entire sound
