Neuvillette is actually such a strong person (not just as a character in game but as like a person in genuine). Not only did he live through a close member going through suicide, but also putting one of his own friends into jail. Respectttttt ✊ edit: omg im famous eek

if u haven't watched the video yet, SPOILER: From the moment Vautrin started yelling I had a feeling he was acting tbh. Because I also thought he'd accept his punishment in a mature "yes, that's what I did and I acted outside the law' typa way. So when he yelled I was taken aback, but then i was like....oh, but it makes sense if he's still trying to make people trust Neuvillette and his leadership. Posing that justice question and having Neuvilette respond with a guilty verdict shows the people that no matter who you are, what your background, and what your relationship to the people in power, if you commit a crime, Neuvilette will judge you fairly and the same as he judges anyone else, which is the exact quality a judge should have. It essentially cemented his place in society as the objective, unbiased, fair judge. Kind of bittersweet to think that was essentially Vautrin's last act as Captain, and that he never got a chance to talk to Neuvillette afterwards which meant Neuvillette legitimately thought Vautrin hated him for FOUR HUNDRED YEARS when he was actually helping him the whole time. I'm crying this is such a good quest. Agh poor Carole and Vautrin TT Also TRAVELER TALKING?????!!!! it wasn't even an Archon Quest I hope Hoyo keeps adding more traveler speaking lines and not just one sentence in AQs here and there

Before 4.2, I too thought this was Furina's voice. I now understand that this was Focalors all along, setting Neuvillette on the path to empathy and compassion. He would ultimately be the one to forgive the sins of Fontainians because of it, thereby fulfilling Egeria's original justice. "You are a devious one, Focalors," hit so hard when I realised it.

Also remember we only hear this voice narrating in the background. You might be assuming this voice was talking to Neuvillette or that he heard this voice, but it's just a narrative device. And even if it was a conversation between Focalors/Furina and Neuvillette, why would Furina say this? It would imply Furina knew the plan when she didn't at all, which causes problems with consistency.

Neuvillette would be passive aggressive toward zhongli tho... even if he didn't outright hate the archons, his voice held a hint of contempt in his characters dialogue about them (except for Nahida. With her, he felt sympathy because even though she is archon with great power, she was still getting mistreated by her people)... plus, he laughed and even wheezed at "certain" people that walk around wearing fake vision(venti and zhongli)😂

@@dana_0612 I’m not so sure he would be passive aggressive just because he’s the new water sovereign…he’s fine with Furina, who is the direct wielder his water sovereign power that was stolen. And he also made it sound like she could seemingly willingly give it back to him…and he’s not mad at her for it…he’s pretty kind to Furina actually, and works directly with her, and voice lines at the end of his story suggest some version of Furina invited him to the human world…compare his relationship as the confirmed water sovereign with Furina and Fontaine….vs Apep who was probably the dendro sovereign and her treatment of Nahida and Sumeru. If he held any contempt for his situation, he wouldn’t be willingly working with and for human in the new world the Archons created for them. He wouldn’t be inviting Melusines into human society, If he was upset with the archons he could be treating Furina more like the Knave does and blaming her for Fontaine’s current predicament. I think he would definitely treat any archon he met differently than a regular human or god we’ve met, which would be refreshing. Of course he would laugh at them for wearing visions and hiding. He’s a fucking dragon walking around in broad daylight and using his powers and living for hundreds of years and no one in Fontaine really cares or bothers to guess his identity. Laughing at them doesn’t mean he would be contemptuous though. I think he’s more concerned about the future and finding where he feels like he fits in the world vs the past and being the water dragon heir. He’s not like Apep at all. I think his final Ascension line kind of confirms he only has real beef with the Second Who Came.

If you talked to the NPCs defending Melusines, you'll find more lore. Apparently the Garde hat's logos haven't always been designed that way. An image of a Melusine has been added to it to honor Carole, but it's been so long hardly anyone remembers it.

@@di8085 incorrect nahida did NOT make the aranara stay way from adults it was the result of the lie by the former sages that dreams are only childish and by extension this effected how people saw the aranara. or rather they lost the ability because they relegated them to childish dreams. before the sages before the calamity of kaenri'ah humans and aranara coexisted together. the ensuing calamity and the lies of the sages after are why only children can see the aranara. the thought that aranara are just fairy tales won't go away easy and thus it will take a long time before humans will see aranara again

I know folks hate on Paimon, but Paimon out of pocket comments are precious jewels of comedy and cringe a like. The game would be somewhat less without them. Big sis Paimon was wholesome.

Fontaine is definitely the region with the best stories so far and sumeru was the best when it came out as well all the hidden stuff and wanting to find out what is what made me not want to stop playing Sumeru was great but even that felt a bit annoying to get through at times I really can't wait to see what's up with Furina next patch

He wasnt falsely convicted, he's trying to claim that because he was ignorant to the fact that he was smuggling things, that he shouldnt be guilty of anything. But the fact of the matter is that he didnt ask any questions, and was delivering goods he knew nothing about for mora, he was still smuggling things even if he didnt know what they were, so he is still guilty.
