I saw this live 3 years ago. I remember this vid, back when it had almost no views and everyone was thankful to nevake for uploading so much great stuff. This match is one of the best and most memorable to me. I feel kinda sad seeing how much less SC2 is compared to Brood War. SC1 is far better entertainment in every way possible - the scale of the battles, all the small gimmick strategies, the animations - everything. And the Koreans had it nailed down perfectly too. I miss BW as it was.

This will never happen in SC2 game, a player sweating like JaeDong did in this match, after a 40 min game, with probably 400apm's constantly. This is what made this game so tough to play. Now this sad version of SC2 makes the game really easier, end even koreans with 250 apm's get to be real good it. When youll see a player sweating his ass off in SC2, then you could say that SC2 is as good as SC1! GG JaeDong !

Perfectly executed game by Stork. "stork just defended too well, never really attacked" He played from the very start of the game around this going 30+ minutes with a 50/50 map split. To win a long game on this map, Zerg probably needs to get 6 bases to Protosses 5, and it's a relatively easy map to split in half, even in PvZ. Even though Jaedong kills the Nexus at 12, Stork keeps long distance mining and that continues to be enough to outlast Jaedong. Few could dare plan around lasting 30+ minutes against Jaedong for a delay victory, but Stork won that 80+ minute game against GGPlay on Andromeda so this was almost fast food for him.

Holy shit this game was awesome. I only played a campaign as a kid on this game so i have never watched a top tier starcraft 1 game like this. Im wondering why stork only used zealot, high templar and archon late game though. Why didn't he get reavers, dragoons, dark archons and possibly air?

dragoons suck vs zerg. late game zerg army is lings which counters goons. Dark archons are situational. Costs alot of money. 250min 200gas just for one and 100/100 for resesarch. Reavers are even more expensive. 400 mins 200 gas and 15min for each scarab. as well as shuttle 200 mins. And shuttle speed which is 200/150. Thats alota money for just 2 reavers. Archons are economical. 2 high temps can storm 6 times total then merge and still be useful in a fight.

It's hard to say because your unit composition can change over the course of the game. Kind of a long explanation, but here goes. Reavers can be good against Zerg but are very specalized, requiring a lot of control and protection to use effectively. They also require shuttles (preferably with speed), which is more research/tech. Stork could throw a few in here in this composition and they would have been potentially useful, but obviously not super necessary as he still won. Dragoons are overall pretty weak against Zerg. Zerglings, Hydras, Mutas, Defilers... a bunch of the Zerg army destroys Dragoons. Dragoons can be good with support and are decent against Lurkers, but once Dark Swarm comes into play they fall off pretty hard. Dragoons CAN be good in the early/mid before Dark Swarm becomes a problem and when they have back-up, but they do have issues in the late-game (mainly due to Dark Swarm). Dark Archons are super specialized and are VERY rare in high level play. They are very expensive and their skills are pretty gimmicky. Mind Control is just not very useful in a real match (stealing one unit but losing all your shields and energy is meh, not to mentioning WAITING for the energy to even cast). Feedback... A good Zerg won't expose their Defilers. Maelstrom seems good in theory, but why disable when you can just kill with Psi Storm/Archon attack. Protoss is a gas hungry race, so it's not worth dumping gas into Dark Archons when you can just get more High Templars/Archons. Protoss air is pretty weak against Zerg. Corsairs are great, but they are made specifically to hunt overlords and kill Mutas. Once the Zerg covers their overlords with anti-air and doesn't build Mutas, Corsairs are pretty useless. Scouts are WAY too expensive for their lackluster anti-ground abilities. Even if Zerg goes air... Protoss would still go Storm/Dragoon/Corsair over Scouts. Carriers are very rare in PvZ due to Dark Swarm and the mobile Zerg Army. On the other hand: Zealots are incredibly good against Zerg overall. Lurkers are really their only counter on the ground (Mutas are usually kept in check by Corsairs), which is why the Zealots need support like Psi Storm/Dragoons/Archons. But Zealots are a mineral only unit (super important since Protoss wants to spend gas elsewhere) that have a ton of hp, high attack, fast movement speed (with leg enhancement). Zealots (especially with Archon support) absolutely melt through Zerglings. They aren't punished by Dark Swarm. They are VERY good against Hydras (It takes ~26 Hydra shots to kill ONE Zealot while the Zealot only takes 5 hits to kill a Hydra. The only exception is if the Zealots can't get a surround; then Hydras kill them.). While they do low damage against Ultras (the Ultra's armor bonus is twice as effective against Zealots), they can also tank the shit out of Ultras while your other units kill them. And multiple Zealots can surround one Ultra, so that helps with the damage reduction. High Templar... Psi Storm is just TOOO good against the high number/low hp Zerg army. Protoss can only hang with Zerg with AoE, and Psi Storm is the premiere AoE. And of course, once the HTs run outta energy, Archons are also very useful. HTs rarely will survive after storming due to their low hp and slow movement speed, so merging into Archons is smart. Not to mention Archons are great. Their high HP, high damage output (that is an AoE) trades well with Ultras/Lurker and absolutely melts Zerglings. +3 Archons 1 shot Zerglings and damage others nearby. With Zealots in front to do damage and absorb hits, Archons just absolutely melt through Lings. They also do decent damage under Dark Swarm (and are relatively immune to Plague). Now I figure most people wont't read all this, but whatever, it was fun writing. Hope this helps.
