"Doing something is better than doing nothing at all." I find these the most powerfull and inspirieren word to introduce people to zero waste. As someone who aspires and works towards a zero waste life style, I sometimes overwhelm myself and overthink over every single aspect of my life. But then I remind myself about the several changes I have implemented and take my time.

I think a lot of people would benefit from learning how people survived during the Great Depression 😊 They were clever with their resources

Being rich helps, but as a not rich person: Little things like using handkerchiefs, Tupperware rather then wrap, buying second hand, and trying to forage/ make my own before I buy has saved me a lot. Especially second hand buying.

And if full zero waste isn't possible right this second for you, you can STILL make innovations and changes in your life to lower your waste impact AND save you money! I'm far from zero waste, but I still manage to incorporate many strategies into my life, like mending, reusing, using public transport and buying second hand that lower my burden on the planet ❤

Over the past few years I've been making small but meaningful changes to go lower waste, and I have loved almost every single change! I'm a cloth napkin household now, and use microfiber cloths for cleaning (but still keep a roll of paper towels for cleaning the toilet, cause that's my preference). I use deodorant in a compostable cardboard container, use my own produce and shopping bags at the store, and recycle whatever I can. I also take the bus to work 95% of the time. There is always room for improving (I've yet to find a green/plastic free detergent that works for me), but I've absolutely enjoyed this journey!

Great 😃 video 🎥 I'm based in the UK and there are things here that work for me. I do the best I can. I have a husband so compromises need to be made and over the years we have found systems that work for us.

As someone who would like to step away from paper towels, plastic wrap, and foil, could you show us how you meal prep with raw meat and store produce in the freezer? What do you use to pat chicken dry? How do you store bulk meat in the freezer without using plastic bags?

I've broken 2 glasses in the past few months, managed to ignore the plastic cups in the clearance aisle today though. It did make me realize I should buy something I can't break 😅 but not plastic!

so in my town there are no bulk stores or grocery stores with items not really in plastic i mean some but can anyone drop ideas for me please ❤❤❤❤
@MsFadirАй бұрын
I'm queueing for the answers. I'm curious as well. If you don't have it in your town, then it seems like you have no alternative. At least when it comes to packed goods. But you can still implement changes in your usage of plastic plates, cups, cutlery (if applicable). If you need to buy something, buy second hand...
@alaska4939Ай бұрын
I also live in a place where buying in bulk isn't really an option. But simply skipping a lot of plastic packaging, boxes instead of bag, reusable grocery and produce bags, cooking from scratch is healthier and cheaper when you buy on sale. And I try to make changes where I can. The biggest benefit is not shopping on Amazon when I'm bored. I still buy a few things from there. The cheapest zero waste toothpaste I found on Amazon. But as for my clothing, I've downsized and stuck to buying only good quality and being content with less.

Do you know what hurts the planet as much as plastic? Food waste. If you can manage to waste as little food as you can and reuse food scraps, you're doing great

Ths only problem that I have with electric car is that the generator that supplies power to the batter still uses gas yes its a nice idea but it just seem counter intuitive when trying to not use fuel and diesel. I feel like if you wanted to do a full eco friendly car would have solar panels or go diesel believe it or not but diesel isnt petrol its actually compost and the black stuff that comes out of the exhaust is not toxic to the environment

I think evs are rather wasteful, overpriced, and dangerous. Ever tried to put out an electric car fire? Even after submerging them in water they can still reignite. And the cost of the batteries. And the batteries don't last as long. The rare earth minerals it takes to make the batteries and how long those batteries take to break down. They're nearly impossible to fix without a computer degree, not to mention expensive. And basically no new vehicles these days last very long. I'll stick to driving vehicles that were made before I was born and parts I can get off ebay.

I’ve said this once and I’ll say this again bulk bins are completely utterly useless where an earth do you think it all comes from? It’s still coming from individual packets that are put in the bulk bins you just don’t see it you’re still contributing to it.
