Dude, thank you for making a guide that's not as long as a Harvard lecture and one that includes input commands onscreen. I've seen so many other long-winded guides that don't even show commands, and they're so annoying. Great stuff 👏!

I like this guide and how you outline your gameplan in a simple way. The other guides are far more complex and contain too much info for how to parse beginning to play Nīna. I enjoyed your road to mighty ruler series, and hope to be there soon myself! I’ll be tuning in to your content as you continue to make it. Your attitude is great and you’re excellent at explaining things!

I knew a good majority but the way you explained ss1 was perfect. I definitely have things I can implement or do better to improve my pressure game. Nina is execution intensive but so sick when you can utilize ss1 or hayashida effectively in a match.

For anyone learning Nina as well, this is a good guide. Btw, one thing that's a good +damage to your opponents is if you have a successful d, df4 that is NOT a CH, you can ff1+2. It will only be countered by opponents who knows how to side roll. But anyone who tries to wake up using any other methods like Spring Kick or Recovery kick, the ff1+2 will always beat that. Not bad to try considering it'll be safe even if they side roll.

not sure if you mentioned it in the video but some great options out of forward sway are the while standing moves like WS4. If you tap forward after SS1 and let go before pressing the button you get a while standing move instead of a qcf move.

Weird little like mid level tip where YMMV: At the beginning of the match I use a lot of different moves to cancel into sidestep (12, f12, f32, b22) but if I notice they’re punishing and interrupting my attempts to go into sidestep 1, I’ll start using only one move to to sidestep cancel to condition them to interrupt me and then I’ll start using the full string (f124, f324, b222) to try to bait them into a massive punish a couple times. If they really still wait and punish the sidestep on reaction I’ll assume they’ve really labbed the matchup and just be a little more cautious. Otherwise I’ll usually feel free to sidestep again with impunity .

If anyone has the knowledge and likes to explain a few things: 1. the u1->f->f1 is the "frametrap" and +1 on block. Does that mean that if it hits, then I can press any button or what attacks "create" the frametrap? 2. any suggestions how to practice sidestep loops? 3. launchers are not always launchers it seems. why? some combos do work just with a specific set of launchers. is that because of the recovery of the launchers?
@coderJohn4 ай бұрын
1. Do you know about frame data? If you don't you should look it up there's a lot of helpful guides but I'll give you a quickie explanation for that specific +1 scenario. Attacks have a certain amount of frames to come out, and jabs are the fastest moves (generally) at 10f. If you're +1, that means you're 1 frame ahead of your opponent. If you and your opponent both press jab when you're +1, your jab will take 9f to come out, and theirs will take 10f to come out (not exactly but that's basically what happens). So if you're +1 and you click jab, your move will always land before any move they can press. For sidestep cancelling it's handy because you can transition into another "1 2" into sidestep. You could also press moves other than jab, like you could press a move that takes 11f to come out, but then that would land at the same time as your opponents jab (if they pressed it) and it would "trade" (both of you would get hit at the same time) 2. Get comfortable linking "1 2 u 1 u b" into itself. Once your comfortable doing that you can cancel into something other than "1 2" after ss1 canceling. It's just a matter of practice 3. Some moves are only "launchers" when they counter hit. A counter hit is when your move either comes out faster than your opponents, or comes out as your opponent is recovering from a move. Example if you press "d df4" and your opponent blocks high, then they will only get knocked down. But if you press "d df4" and your opponent presses a high move while you're doing it, "d df4" will now have "counter hit" properties, and you can do a follow up "d4 1" to pick them up off the ground to juggle.

3:45 Ok hold up., You saying to do d343 after F1+2 because they will try and punish you because f1+2 is -14 on block is wild lmao . -14 means your just straight up gonna be punished regardless so I don’t even know how you trying to steal your turn back on punish frames.
@coderJohn5 ай бұрын
You're right I got a couple things mixed up there. After d343 you'll be negative -7 on block, so afterwards if your opponent tries to press a button that's higher than 14 frames, f1+2 will either trade or beat it. I've found success pressing d343 when you're slightly negative, hoping to catch your opponent pressing high. Chaining d343 into another d343 would've been a better example. I conflated these two ideas and said something that was just wrong, sorry!! This has now been edited out of the video, thank you for pointing it out

I really can't somehow replicate d df4, d4 1, df3 4 3, qcf4 3 1+2 Somehow right after d df4, the opponent is laying already on the ground I can't launch them with d df4. Is that because of the ki-charge maybe?
@mauriceemond73194 ай бұрын
Ki charge is to demonstrate the counter hit. Make sure youre practicing the move as a counter hit (settings> player counter hit > enabled )

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner! Have been away from youtube and tekken for a bit. It is the ki charge! Ki charge makes it so you're next move has counter hit properties. There's the big gunshot hit noise when you get a counter hit with launch properties, so I wanted to show you how to pick up a combo from those situations since majorly increases your damage output.

Bro what are you even talking about lol. It sounds like you’re just not good enough yet and that’s okay

In my opinion her 3 most consistent counter hit launchers are her "d df4" snake edge, "qcf3" her slide forward, and her "qcf1" +1 space out move. Her "d df4" and "qcf3" are both fairly react-able lows that are omega punishable. Her "qcf1" is a bit difficult to play around neutral but you can try and space her to whiff punish it if a Nina throws it out lazily and if you don't mash anything crazy in neutral to get counter-hit, while it sucks she's only +1 on block, so you can contest her with a jab and get hit the most you'll eat is a "1 2" and you can remember not to contest next time until you see her press riskier buttons. Hopefully if you decide to play again these tips will help you against Nina!

A zafina backdashed out of all my ss1 pressure. Wtf do i do? Im also higher rank then you but you seem to know more about ss1
@coderJohn5 ай бұрын
Back dashing is annoying, canceling into f4, or qcf3 to close the distance should help. Or ddf4 to either stop them mid dash. WR1+2 is also a great option for chasing people down Against people who just backdash and wait for you to press a button running up and throwing them is also really good

Some of your combos aren’t really combos. Like that wall splat combo of yours, it doesn’t actually hit if they’re just blocking. It can only hit if they’re not blocking or mashing. So it’s useless.
@coderJohn2 ай бұрын
The wall splat combo definitely works. But it only works when your opponent is in wall splat state. When your opponent is near the wall, certain moves will push them up against the wall, this is called a wall splat. "D343" is one of these moves, which is why I do it before I start the combo. Once they're wall splatted, then you can do the wall splat combo. The combo will not work if they're just standing near the wall, only if they're wall splatted. You can see in the demonstration that it is a combo because the combo indicator pops up in the bottom left
