I learned to love myself by asking myself " Why" when I give myself the answer, I then ask myself " Why" again. It will get you to the root cause, then ask yourself " Why" are you hanging on to it. When sad/mad thoughts comes to mind, sit and go through this list. Why are you codependent, Why do you need them to take care of you? Why are you needy, why can't you do it on your own? Why do you need that to make you feel better? Why do you need this to make you happy? Why are you blaming childhood memories on your life's choices? Why are you letting it bring you down? Why are you NOT letting it go? Why are you visiting it again just because it comes to mind? Why are you not saying " I can do this" Why do you need someone to tell you you are good? Why do you need someone to validate you? Why does the opinion of someone else make you who you are? Why are you NOT giving "0" shits about what people think about you? Why do you need to please other people? Why do you need people to like you? "Why Do I Care?" Love from a Sister.

I feel free once I quit smoking weed. No it's not bad like other drugs but a good highlight from this video in terms of that is.. being authentic attracts. Being under the influence on weed I feel it has taken away from my authenticity due to it being a superficial state of mind not naturally getting there but being altered by an exterior substance.. like he stated I used weed to become likeable because as a kid all my family left me after my mom died I felt that I wasnt good enough sober so I needed to change myself somehow to have people stay and love me... I never received love by being something I wasnt. If you dont love and know yourself it will be 10xs harder for someone else to. That's the thing, that when you experienced, child neglect or formed some beliefs your whole life what your gut is telling you is not right. Exactly the point he is trying to make. Don't follow your gut. Get past the co dependent, needy instinct that you formed. When you never had boundaries, and you start drawing them. Is gonna feel unnatural at the start. And your gut is gonna tell you to go back to safety. So ignore it and keep going. At some point you're gonna balance out.

This is what I've been battling with for ages now. Far too often I detach from needing validation from other people and in turn I become magnetic, but then my mindset shifts to "yeah, it worked, they like me now" and the opposite happens where I become needy and repulsive. I would really like a meditation where you help me let go of my neediness.

People are social species and there is nothing wrong about being attached to someone, being in healthy trusting relationships with someone, being able to take someone as positive ownership, to provide containment, to be taken care of in the same context. The only problem I see is that to create this oneness with someone, we've got to be completely honest about our needs and desires to be able to find the right person for the attachment. There is a fine lane between being egocentric and emotionally indepepand.

Man, I was in the EXACT same frame! I was too attached to my old story; my old self. It kept me chained and bound down to these tracks that led nowhere. I always expected a train to come run over me, and you know what? It didn't for a while, which confused me. But it eventually did. And then I would question why it did. Sometimes I was the one who chose to lay on those tracks, and other times I allowed someone else to push me onto them, but it was still my own doing. Self-sabotaging because of how you were treated as a kid, whether it was to "make" your parents "proud," or to "fit in," or have some sort of false fulfillment meanwhile you felt some void... NONE of it can continue if you simply choose to stop the cycle. STOP the train. STOP the negative self-talk. STOP the FEAR. Your videos have worked wonders, Aaron. Thank you for sharing your insight! It definitely resonates with a lot of people, I'm one of them. Keep up the good work!

ANTHONY HOPKINS - Powerful words. ′′Let go the people who are not prepared to love you. This is the hardest thing you will have to do in your life and it will also be the most important thing. Stop having hard conversations with people who don't want change. Stop showing up for people who have no interest in your presence. I know your instinct is to do everything to earn the appreciation of those around you, but it's a boost that steals your time, energy, mental and physical health. When you begin to fight for a life with joy, interest and commitment, not everyone will be ready to follow you in this place. This doesn't mean you need to change what you are, it means you should let go of the people who aren't ready to accompany you. If you are excluded, insulted, forgotten or ignored by the people you give your time to, you don't do yourself a favor by continuing to offer your energy and your life. The truth is that you are not for everyone and not everyone is for you. That's what makes it so special when you meet people who reciprocate love. You will know how precious you are. The more time you spend trying to make yourself loved by someone who is unable to, the more time you waste depriving yourself of the possibility of this connection to someone else. There are billions of people on this planet and many of them will meet with you at your level of interest and commitment. The more you stay involved with people who use you as a pillow, a background option or a therapist for emotional healing, the longer you stay away from the community you want. Maybe if you stop showing up, you won't be wanted. Maybe if you stop trying, the relationship will end. Maybe if you stop texting your phone will stay dark for weeks. That doesn't mean you ruined the relationship, it means the only thing holding it back was the energy that only you gave to keep it. This is not love, it's attachment. It's wanting to give a chance to those who don't deserve it. You deserve so much, there are people who should not be in your life. The most valuable thing you have in your life is your time and energy, and both are limited. When you give your time and energy, it will define your existence. When you realize this, you begin to understand why you are so anxious when you spend time with people, in activities, places or situations that don't suit you and shouldn't be around you, your energy is stolen. You will begin to realize that the most important thing you can do for yourself and for everyone around you is to protect your energy more fiercely than anything else. Make your life a safe haven, in which only ′′compatible′′ people are allowed. You are not responsible for saving anyone. You are not responsible for convincing them to improve. It's not your work to exist for people and give your life to them! If you feel bad, if you feel compelled, you will be the root of all your problems, fearing that they will not return the favours you have granted. It's your only obligation to realize that you are the love of your destiny and accept the love you deserve. Decide that you deserve true friendship, commitment, true and complete love with healthy and prosperous people. Then wait and see how much everything begins to change. Don't waste time with people who are not worth it. Change will give you the love, the esteem, happiness and the protection you deserve."

This makes sense. I've been going back and forth between totally shutting people out and pushing them away, to being needy. My fear of abandonment caused both. I would shut them out for fear of getting attached. Then when I'd finally let them in I'd get overly attached. I think it's finding that balance between the two where you're not afraid of letting people in but not afraid of them abandoning you.

The pandemic quarantine is one of the best things to ever happen to me personally. I have always valued my alone time. The quarantine provided all of the alone time that I've dreamed of having. It allowed me the time, space and solitude for proper introspection. I looked at what causes me stress and anxiety. Then I took an honest, objective look at what was internal and what was external. In the end, essentially 100% of my stress and anxiety wasn't the issues in my life. It was how I reacted to them. My perfectionist tendencies were becoming a problem. I made mountains out of molehills for absolutely no reason. Once I realized that, I changed my approach to life. Things changed for the better almost overnight. My stress and anxiety disappeared and I am happier now than I've ever been. I spent years shooting myself in the foot but I'm glad that I fixed it.

I agree with this. An attachment is a fantasy to begin with. You are a separate person, even from your spouse or parent. We try to keep this fantasy attachment in our heads; its illusory and imaginary. Starts in infancy. Then we carry it into our adult relationships. ALL of your happiness has to come from within. Then you can enjoy being with another person, but your happiness eminates from within.

After 6 years in a horrible relationship, I discovered through googling for insight, I find the word narcissist. My 50 plus years I never knew. One year out of it. Now I find your videos. So good. Thank you for sharing your gift. Stay blessed.

This is exactly my issue right now! I was literally just asking the universe how to fix this in myself and here you are! Please tell me more!!!

Yup i was the codependent chaser tf and had to remember i was my own totally separate person with distinct needs, issues, desires that i didn't need anyone to accommodate me with. Such a good feeling when you remember or learn to just be yourself and do things for yourself without worrying about what "others will think" or being afraid to "rock the boat" by expressing my truth

Very well put! I should have valued my own passions and talents all along. Then I wouldn't have attracted so many narcissists, who chipped away at my self-esteem. I wish I had been able to embrace this concept decades ago. Thanks Aar!

Yup, thats what was happening with me for so long . In trying please and help everyone else , i lost myself in the process. But thankfully , ive learned to find myself again. I refuse to fall back into those old patterns and habits again. I want to live and not just survive.

It’s all about detachment. Feeling the separation between you and the flame from the candle 🕯 this is a way of integrating your energy. Thank you Aaron for your the valuable knowledge about being in your frame. This is going to change my perspective on so many things. Much love to you ❤️

Been using your videos to help guide myself to enlightenment, and to overall love myself fully and heal that inner child🙏🏼 thank you so much and I’m looking forward to that meditation

By being authenthically you, your videos have helped me to see myself with a different pair of eyes. This video was crucial for me to understand all the years of self sabotage and self abandonment.

Wow excellent, Aaron! I was just reading last night about detachment in the 'Codependent no more' book. I love your analogy with the eggs, since I'm a visual learner. Thank you so much for helping us all! I know I need to detach from thinking my elderly Narcissitic mother needs me, because she can take care of herself. She asked me to 'help' her 4 years ago and I am still here. I have abandoned my values and life and business for her.

When I had a spiritual awakening, I broke most of my boundaries with people, especially with my twin flame, and he hit me the worst... I destroyed my most important boundaries just because of this oneness thinking, in fact I sacrificed myself to a thought that I thought was worth doing anything. Thank you for this video

Appreciate you so much. I was raised by narcissistic mom too It annihilated my sense of self Created a hole 🕳 in my soul I stopped beating myself up for it and started to pay attention to it, talking to it, then just allowing it to be and I sat through the pain of it. Finally I put my bright shining golden sun in the hole and have been feeling whole every since. It’s hard to figure things out without a sense of self. I felt like nothing, worse than nothing. I started giving myself love like I would a baby. I’d look at my baby pics and just say lovely things to that little baby. And yes.. many times I cried because I felt so ridiculous doing all these things but I did them nevertheless. Just thought I’d share. Thank goodness for KZbin, technology, and people like you ❤️💯

im so moved from your video, I never knew or thought about it...I always give more than I receive even with my friends, ppl ghosting me with no reason. I start doubting myself maybe there's something wrong with me, its like a pattern..but still, I thought, talking to ppl saying hi being nice and show love, make them feel loved is what the world needs and what I wish for myself....thank you so much!
