My experience with brutal rejections is not the rejection itself, as I can take it. It's the stigma of becoming "ohhh....your "that guy" " and becoming the butt of jokes, and being excluded from other interactions because I was "that guy" who not only got rejected, but blown out rejected.

Sure it stings but I don't think it's rejection that keeps guys away. I think its more about being shamed, lambasted, and/or mocked for trying. Or being accused of being "creepy, weird, inappropriate, etc." where she basically tries to frame the situation as if you're doing something wrong by trying to get a date. Some women say it's "creepy" if a guy even looks at them. Not sure how anyone can approach whem the social climate is that hostile towards it.
