Thought we had an excellent "remediator" on board about a year ago and he signed off on his procedures twice, once was in my kitchen right before he began the job, and he followed nothing he signed off on. Now we know, do it right the first time, the hard way, is ultimately the easier way. Onward!

To realistically ensure that a home doesn't have any mold, you would have to open up every wall and ceiling. Mold could be anywhere, it could be caused by high humidity or condensation. ERMi testing will not detect it. And.. If it is on structural framing, how do you remove it? Rebuild the house? Just not realistic.

To effectively remove mold, it's important to follow a comprehensive approach to ensure the mold is thoroughly eliminated and doesn't return. For big projects it is best to contact a professional: www.homecleanse.com 1. Identify and Fix the Source of Moisture: Mold thrives in damp environments, so it's crucial to address any leaks or sources of moisture. This could be a leaky roof, plumbing issues, or poor ventilation. 2. Protect Yourself: Wear protective gear such as gloves, goggles, and an N95 mask to avoid inhaling mold spores and getting them on your skin. 3. Isolate the Contaminated Area: Seal off the area where the mold is located to prevent spores from spreading to other parts of your home. 4. Remove Contaminated Materials: If mold has infested porous materials like drywall, carpeting, or ceiling tiles, these items may need to be removed and discarded. 5. Clean Non-Porous Surfaces: Use a cleaning solution like Benefect to clean mold off non-porous surfaces such as tile, metal, and glass. Make sure to scrub thoroughly. Resources here: www.homecleanse.com/top-6-cleaning-products-for-mold/ www.homecleanse.com/how-to-remove-mold-from-personal-belongings/ 6. Dry the Area Completely: Once cleaned, ensure the area is thoroughly dried to prevent mold from returning. Use fans or dehumidifiers to speed up the drying process. 7. HEPA Vacuum: Use a HEPA vacuum to clean up any remaining mold spores and dust. 8. Monitor the Area: Keep an eye on the area to ensure the mold does not return. Make sure the moisture source is permanently fixed. If you're dealing with a severe mold issue or prefer professional help, you can contact HomeCleanse for expert mold remediation services. For a DIY approach to testing mold, consider using The Dust Test: www.homecleanse.com/product/the-dust-test/

The dust in your house can be from multiple outside sources though ie opening windows, car, work, school, library, church, stores….it might not reflect a source in the house but a source outside of the house. The majority of buildings in the US are water damaged bc it takes so little ie humidity above 55% for 24 hours. We’ve always been exposed to toxic molds, mycotoxins, actinomycetes, endotoxins, VOCs, MPAs, etc….and we always will be unless we’re constantly remediating buildings, cars, planes, etc. Schools, libraries, theatres, etc. would need to be remediated at least every year especially in places with snow, rain, humidity. There’s something else or perhaps many things else making this always existing issue way worse. I heard about emfs, stronger fungicides and mutations of mold making things worse but haven’t personally dug into the research literature to know enough…but not everything that’s valid is researched or published. I think I’m too sick to ever fully recover and live a life worth living.
