I think he looks just fine. Now I agree, he could have bigger eyes and a longer tail, but to me, in the movies he looks me off some sort of a winged, scale coverd mammal. They just wanted to to make him look more dragon like, more real.

Wow this looks amazing! I give these guys alot of credit for how great all of this looks. This robot can pass for toothless anyday even though he's not completely accurate, im sure its difficult to get toothless 100% spot on guys. I hope this comes near my area in the near future I'd love to watch this live.

the dragons look amazinf and move pretty good. one day they might be able to make them move alot more freely adn look more natural but at he moment, this is the most realistic we sare going to get.

. . . . you can make the background footage play as fast as you want, we can clearly see Toothless isn't flapping his wings any faster, or any more concerned about getting eaten/roasted/torn to bits by the Red Death (or whatever the big dragon is called). That being said, the dragons look fantastic, and the robotics in their heads are really impressive!

I think everyone overlooked that background guy at 04:04, that saved the main actor from having his head opened by the tail of the giant dragon that walked behind him. Like this comment if you'd like other people to notice his fantastic work on set as well! :)

I realised it might be a bit odd I do understand that stage and off stage will drastically change. On a stage that big, that undertone will help you see his facial features. If you look at a play, stage make up is somewhat stark and very bold to even look normal on stage with all the lights and projectors. There is alot of colored toned lights.

the red one was best of the 3 main ones i saw. toothless's legs didn't move right and the big one didn't get the basic facial expressions altogether in the true magnificence and majesty a dragon needs. and i didnt see the 6 eyes XD

I loved the movie, and I think they made such a great effort on making the stage play similar as the movie. Of course, it doesn't look that perfect... But still, come on! How much closer could you get if you try it yourself? I can't believe they've been getting a lot of bad reviews. I guess you really can't please everyone. :3

Back in 2012 i went to Auckland with my mum,my brother Archie and Highway to see the How To Train Your Dragon Arena Spectacular Archie and I got two things each Archie got a Night Fury model and Night Fury Keychain and i got a Night Fury Plush toy i named him Toothless and a Hiccup posable plush doll and i raised him as my own son

i was just saying what i felt. i feel for your freind cause i SWEAR i could beat anyone but the original voice actor at being Hiccup. ive literally memorized the movie to the point where i can recite the lines at the correct time by listening to the soundtrack. and i frequently get punched in the shoulder by freinds for frequently quoting lines from the movie in real life. i even look like hiccup. i mean im not really tall, im skinny, i invent and create, and i have a sarcastic sense of humor.

Why is the 'Monstrous Nightmare' not the bat/snake-like Wyvern-esque dragon he is supposed to be? D: They really did go more along Dinosaurs. These dragons have extremely heavy proportions and tiny chicken wings that could never lift them into flight. Whoever designed them should really look into how Discovery Channel depicted real life dragons.

Of course you can... it's live on stage. No CG or superimposed special effects. There's no other way to do it. If you are a fan of theatre, this does not get in the way of enjoying the live performance. Stage acting has been around far far longer than screen productions. And no matter what medium future entertainment takes, the stage production will continue to exist.
