60 Minutes, the most successful American television broadcast in history, is in its 53rd season. Offering hard-hitting investigative reports, interviews, feature segments and profiles of people in the news, the broadcast that began in 1968 is still a hit in 2020. 60 Minutes was the #1 program on Nielsen's weekly Top 10 six times last season and made the list nearly every week - usually in the top 5. The CBS News magazine still averages 10.5 million viewers - more than double the audience of its nearest network news magazine competitor and more than the most-watched daily network evening news broadcast.
About a million more people listen to the 60 Minutes radio simulcast in several major cities and on its companion podcast. Tens of thousands each week experience 60 Minutes online. The broadcast's segments can be watched at 60Minutes.com and the CBS All Access app. Its webcast, 60MinutesOvertime.com, offers content originally produced for the web only, including behind-the-scenes video about the production of 60 Minutes stories and timely archival segments.
60 Minutes has won every major broadcast award. Its 25 Peabody and nearly 160 Emmy awards are the most won by any single news program. It has also won 20 duPont Columbia University journalism awards. Other distinguished journalism honors won multiple times include the George Polk, RTDNA Edward R. Murrow, Investigative Reporters and Editors, RFK Journalism, Sigma Delta Chi and Gerald Loeb awards.
60 Minutes premiered on CBS September 24, 1968. Bill Owens is the program's executive producer. The correspondents and contributors of 60 Minutes are Sharyn Alfonsi, Anderson Cooper, John Dickerson, Norah O'Donnell, Scott Pelley, Lesley Stahl, Bill Whitaker, and L. Jon Wertheim.

Wow, but it seems like Iran did it with precise calculation. They're demonstrating their strength, much like they did with Israel, without escalating to direct conflict. Personally, I believe there's no need for Iran and the US to engage in warfare. Diplomacy, mutual respect, and direct dialogue are the most effective tools for resolving issues.

I was a contractor in Iraq and was stationed at Camp Taji airbase about 150 miles away from Al Asad when this attack happen. Working on that night we had to scramble to get a C17 off the airfield, because that attack was imminent. But that attack by Iran was just the beginning, 2 months later on March 12th Katiab Hezbolla who's commander was also killed with Soleimani, launched a rocket barrage of more than 15 rockets that killed 3 people, 2 days later another rocket barrage of more than 25 rockets luckily on 25 of the 56 fired struck our base. The Iraqi military found the launch site and the had 7 launchers set up with each launcher holding 8 rockets. During that time we had zero air defenses on the base. Crazy times

As far as your shockwave explanation, it’s a sound u don’t hear, a lot of times u don’t even feel it as it knocks the senses out of you. Everything once u start getting senses back Is silent, difficulty breathing due to heavy contamination in the air, dust, debris, then u start getting a tingling feeling back A bit like very heavy pins & needles, it can take up to a few minutes to start to hear again, 3 times I had blood coming out of my nose & ears. Sorry. But that was sop for all troops in Iraq and Afghanistan for all who served there. Bunkers to run and hide in after incoming announcements, as viewed by the eyes in the skies balloons floating over each base. No iron domes, but if u were lucky, double thickness Kevlar over the DFACs to stop or mitigate incoming.

It's not a common threat, most attacks are rockets, mortars, etc, not ballistic missiles with massive payloads. They have plenty of defense for other types of attacks like C-RAMs (counter rocket artillery and mortar) the blimp in the sky with a crazy camera, and others im probably forgetting about.

The US wants to be justify an attack on Syria or Iran and further build its international case for war with these 2 countries. Also more attacks keeps the weapons and arms share prices valuable. Thats how the US works, privatize weapon companies, lobby congress to be pro war. Money money, just like Cheyney did with Iraq so he and his pals "defense" companies could profit. And of course steal oil and gold. People will say there are missile defense systems maybe there are but they sure are not being used.

Much earlier than that. www.npr.org/2019/01/31/690363402/how-the-cia-overthrew-irans-democracy-in-four-days There were also 2 additional reasons. The Country boundary lines were incorrectly drawn after WW2 and didn't separate like groups of people, Israel was also artificially inserted into the region. The other big problem is lots of easily accessible oil reserves, so there was an interest in this region for developed economies.

And if one day you give Iranians a hand of brotherhood, Iranians will open their arms to the hand of friendship But if you exceed your limits, Iran will raze you to the ground Of course friend The missile attack on the Ain al-Assad base was a very small threat from the great Iran. The week before he was killed he posted this on his FB at the mwr: "I see a beautiful city and a brilliant people rising from this abyss. I see the lives for which I lay down my life, peaceful, useful, prosperous and happy. I see that I hold a sanctuary in their hearts, and in the hearts of their descendants, generations hence. It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest that I go to than I have ever known." Ce take of two cities.

America bought this upon themselves with their medling in the internal affairs of a sovereign nation, which is what they still continue to do whenever they don't like the way another country chooses to run it's affairs in it's own way. I can't help but wonder how american leaders would react if the rest of the world acted the same way towards America, as America treats those it disagrees with........

Trump assassinated an Iranian General during a diplomatic visit on Iraqi soil and Iran retaliated. It's as simple as that! And that's what they inherited from Trump! And if you wanna bring up history then get your facts straight because the issues US has had with Iran started long before the hostage crisis. You don't overthrow a democratically elected Iranian government and install a puppet king due to a lack of issues or because your just such good friends with their ppl! U.S. needs to get over it's obsession with Iran and until they do nothing will change. What exactly has this obsession gotten you anyway? U.S. could have colonized the moon with amount of money they spent in Afghanistan alone! You want oil then drill into the Atlantic you can find more oil there then all the M.E. combined! The U.S. real enemies are morons that have the U.S. obsessing over Iran.

This is a bit more nuanced than the Iranian Military and/or leadership 'warning the US' they are going to attack that base. In reality, had that been the case, only a very few individuals would've remained at the base, e.g. only those that could fit into the concrete bunkers. I believe that persons inside Iran feared the U.S. Military retaliation would be overwhelming - suicide for the Iranian Military - and for that reason warned the US. Additionally, it seems obvious that we were even aware of the times in which commercial satellites could photograph our bases. Certainly our Space Force is aware of every location and orbital position of not only commercial and military (russia, china) satellite but also of space junk so astronauts and equipment can be moved out of the way. So, not too far fetched. The hard reality is that if an enemy has ballistic missiles, they must be put in launch position and often from fixed launch sites, so we will be aware when their heat blooms begin to show. We likely could have attacked those launch sites before the launch, but I do agree that Trump didn't want war with Iran, but he made it clear to them that if they killed US personnel, their bases would be destroyed, along with specific personnel. So, likely a "face-saving" plan for Iran OR a few within their ranks thought, let's not take on the United States Military because we killed a bunch of their troops with missiles. Yet, Soliemani had killed thousands with his band of terror weapons and QUDS force fighters posing as Iraqi's during the Operation Iraqi Freedom. Of course saddam had nothing to do with 9/11. But we were all feeling the need to stomp through everywhere BUT Saudi Arabia (the true culprits). Conversely, we needed to show the hajis, everywhere, that attacking the US or it's personnel would mean them being blown to bits. Yet rebuilt with American treasure and blood, only to have the Haji's tear it all down the minute we left. (See Afghanistan).

@@johnnytdufc Please tell me which country with the same military capabilities as Iran, Russia or China has the US fought?, non. The US only fights impoverished and weak countries like Vietnam, Somalia, Afghanistan, Mali, Cuba etc... In Vietnam, the US fought with famers and yet 60 000 - 100 000 US soldiers died and over 200 000 injured. A war with Iran with make the US loose it's superpower status and will have almost a million soldiers dead and that goes for Iran too. The US military planners have exhausted such ideas and have understood that a war with Iran will be catastrophic for both countries. Also, Israel, Saudi Arabia, UAE will have their cities turned into ghost cities. The king of Saudi Arabia will die in a weak of that war and Saudi monarch will end, if the US attack Iran's vital institutions then Iran will consider the same attack for Israel, Saudi oil and other civilian infrastructure. One thing though, China will love to see the US go to war with Iran and they can't wait for it because then they won't have to fight the US to take over global dominance.
