I workout with my girlfriend occasionally, and she will always say "ok, give me 30 reps" or something similar on the last set of a heavy exercise, we laugh it off but it always makes me do at least one, two, or even three more reps then I could have normally.

As with everything, it depends. If you go there to... you know, train, then whatever. But if you just go to the gym to be smooching for 2 hours on the bench press, then sod off. There's a couple at my gym that does the latter, always. It's infuriating. I get that they are all lovey dovey but please, there's like 40 other people in a 2 square meter area waiting for you to finish, get a room!

Well in my opinion it depends on the person who is going to the gym. If bringing your partner helps/motivates you then you can certainly bring him/her to the gym. And why only girlfriend/boyfriend ? Even a friend or family member can help in that whoever is your ideal. On the other hand, if you are someone like me😂😂 who gets easily distracted or you are like "one work at a time" (that also like me) , then don't bring anyone, do your stuff (exercise and instructions from trainer ) and go home.
