This watch summarises what's wrong with the world: you can buy crap from the other side of the planet and have it shipped to you for 1$.
@Patrick-8574 жыл бұрын
I would say this looks like economic warfare, but for that, it would have to be something of actual value. This is just a plain waste of resources for no good reason, and it's inconceivable that this price could cover the cost of materials, production and shipping at this price, let alone give them a profit margin as well. I'm genuinely disturbed by the existence of this thing, it represents something dark, and truly evil. A cheapening of the all human lives involved making such a thing possible of unfathomable preportion. I cannot understand the reason why something like this exists.

A S C E N D E D W H I T E M A L E Perhaps in our wealthy society that doesn’t make sense But for the unfortunate rest of the planet it is. Do you really believe the industrial worker paid 1 dollar a day in Sri Lanka could afford to buy what we considers cheap and relatively reasonable quality watch like Timex !? I just checked even Casio gshock is Sri Lanka is the equivalent of Hamilton watches. We have to stop watching the world through the prism of our comfortable lives. There is billions of other human being, outside of our internet microbubble hobbys and they’re pretty happy to enjoy aesthetically pleasing and affordable products. No one forces westerner to buy cheapo goods from all the way around the world. Besides, even in our society some people struggle to survive with ridiculous wage.

Xavier Ancarno finally someone notices this fact. Where I come from these type of watches ($1-$10) were standard wear for guys below 25. A Seiko quartz is considered a high-end luxury product, only a lucky few can afford them. I was 24 when I could first afford a ‘real watch’ (basically a watch not made of plastic), a $70 Fossil and I couldn’t have been happier. All my friends admired my watch. ‘Affordable watch’ means completely different to someone making $6 a day, someone making $60 a day, and someone making $600 a day.
@Patrick-8574 жыл бұрын
@@Alias_Anybody I'm aware Chinese products are heavily subsidised, hence the economic warfare comment. I genuinely believe they aim to eradicate manufacturing in the West, and they're close to achieving that end. As for the level of automation involved, I'm fairly sure there's still a certain amount of labour involved. China has over a billion people and their lives are all but worthless to the Chinese government. It's a question of which is cheaper. An astounding amount of work is still done by hand there from what I understand. It's a combination of both really. But regardless, I don't think getting a watch of any quality for a dollar, from anywhere, shipped across the globe to your door is possible without something being terribly wrong, and I'm not sure making profit is the objective.

Just go to straight to AliExpress, I'm sure that's where they get all of their product anyway. On there, there are a lot of good watches, though they're a tiny portion of what's on offer, so yeah, the odds aren't good buying at random. Pagani Design makes decent watches (though mostly homages, which will be a turnoff for many), the Loreo Diver is quite nice (though also completely unoriginal, admittedly), and they've got the official Seagull store, so that's cool. Basically, you get what you pay for, and on these sites, you'll find bottom-shelf crap that any store you'd recognize would be ashamed to carry and sell. There are gems in that mountain of crap, but skip the middleman, as I'm pretty sure Wish just buys from AliExpress.

However, some of the better Chinese brands such as Naviforce, SKMEI and Curren offer good-looking fashion watches in the $15 - $25 range with reliable quartz movements, full chrono functionality and reasonable build quality. They offer good value for most the world that could never afford luxury brands.

Jory be for real. If Rolex were selling a $1 watch my expectations of it would be very very low. You did a review of a Starking that cost $50; why didn't you pick a $50 watch from Wish and review it. A $1 watch are you kidding me? You're reviewing a toy. Please don't insult our intelligence. If you're going to do a review do a serious review, and not of a $1 toy watch.

I purchased a few very cheap Wish watches and after a few months only have one left - it's a LIGE 'Automatic Mechanical Fashion Watch 1853' with windows to internal works on the front and back; lovely blue face with rose gold dials housed in shiny stainless steel case; nice brown leather strap with solid metal clasp. I wear with blue Jean's and I get positive comments. Would I purchase another Wish watch - NO! I would rather save up for another Seiko or Orient or, something I can truly rely on!

Tbh doesn't seem that bad. I mean it's not something I'd wear, but...it was a dollar.

As her eldest and only survivng grandson, my dear grandmother (God Rest her Soul) generously bequeathed that exact same model watch "The Geneva" on her death bed several years ago to me . Of course I've cherished and deeply loved that timepiece eversince. I well recall as if it were just yesterday the grip of her wizzened hand holding my own. The rattling gasps of her final breaths as I bent my head down to catch her dying words to me before she departed this mortal coil. "I want you to have this Boo Boo (her nickname for me) take this watch. Look after it. Take care of it and never allow it far from your sight. This fine timepiece will look after you, but only if you look after it. Be a good boy Boo Boo and do no one any harm. Hold your head high Boo Boo as you negotiate life's hurdles. Cherish this watch as it will serve you well. "She rambled on in a similar vein for the following five or more hours. Blah blah blah blah blah blah. Until she simultaneously coughed, rapidly gasped, farted loudly and then finally slumped lifeless into the mattress dead. The point being? I think it's a pretty poor show for you to come on KZbin just to ridicule other peoples watch choices and acquisitions. Remember one man's meat is another man's poison. We can't all afford to go swaggering about rubbing our Orient Bambinos our Timex Marlins and Vostok Amphibias in poorer people's noses you know. So just you think on young man, that's all I'm saying! Signed... Disgruntled of Mayfair.

I got a $1 watch from an Instagram ad. $1 for all my data was probably a steal for them.

I don't care how bad is the watch. How is it possible to produce this "watch" and ship it to you from the other side of the world and still make a profit on it. Like how

I think I'm the only person that doesn't have a problem with a $1 watch. It's a junk watch that will fall apart within a few months (the strap a bit sooner) but hey, for your young kids just wanting some bling, it's OK. I'd totally hit it with Lysol wipes first though. That is if I can ever find some in the store. 😉

Shitty or not, its second hand hits the marks better than a 400$ Swiss quartz.

Step 1: buy 10.000 of these. Step 2: sell them for 2 dollars on the streets. Step 3: Rolex.

This watch is great, there is already wear and tear and patina before you even wear it! There is also a story behind that fake chronograph, they want to cut the middle man and give you a beautiful watch without even troubling yourself to use the chronograph

Since the SKX series is now discontinued, would you be willing to try to do some reviews on watches styled after the SKX? Such as Islander Watches, Deep Blue, ect.

I love how the seconds hand shutters and jitters between 4&9. I don't know how cheap watch movements work, but that could sabotage the watch's timekeeping and longevity. I guess it doesn't have Citizen's anti-backlash system 😉

I bought that exact watch from Wish for $0 and $2 shipping. It hasn't arrived yet. I'm going to give it to a 6 years old kid. Also, you can get the Skmei watches from Wish and they're pretty decent. The Skmei 1456 is an all metal, square Gshock homage and for $15-20 it's a heck of a bargain. It's one of my favorite beater watches.

For me this watch would be a parts watch. The glass, the mechanism sold separately makes more then $ 1. Remove the white plastic frame, push aside the spring leaver (+ terminal) near the stem, and the battery will jump out because the negative terminal under the battery is also a spring. Think like a watchmaker and you will see things differently.

I think wish totally flexes on watch snobs when a wish watch looks literally just as good, and telks the time, all for 1$. There should NOT be a 5,000$ difference between a good enough fake and a genuine, imo watch people are ripping themselves off more

A matte finish doesn't necessarily bother me that much, but there's a difference between matte and looking like construction paper. And cheap-ass metals and finishes regularly have reactions with a person's skin. I can't wear sunglasses with metal frames because they'll react with the skin on my nose where the rubber nose pieces touch the skin.

Wish is actually dope for straps on the cheap, the NATO straps are perfectly fine
