Hey Phil, I bought this product as well recently. Try putting a golf ball in the bag. When the vacuum is on, the golf ball will be pulled up, and when it’s off, the ball will fall back into the bag, which will help to release all the dust and dirt from the bag itself!

Someone had mentioned using a pool filter sock . This goes over and around the filter I believe in a above ground pool . This will catch the gunk that would dirty and clog up a wet/dry vacuum filter . I suppose to just throw it away and use a new one each time . In a vehicle that had alll kinds of gunk in and on the carpet , I would definitely use this . But , in the case of a " normally " dirty carpet , maybe not .

I buy the dust collection bags off Amazon get 12 for $25. I'm on my 4th bag and have been using them since October. It's now end of April. My Vacuum is the 16Gallon DeWalt Stealth. The filter for that is like $30. I've been using that vacuum since October. But this too can come in handy. But what I like about the Dust bags is that my Vacuum stays clean and all I gotta do is take bag out and swap it out with a new bag.

Phil, this is not an insult. You were definitely a child who was raised and taught to “keep that, you might need that one day”. You and my wife would be good buddies. 😂😂 Little tips like this make your channel awesome. Till the next one.

Good adaptation of a technology used in some auto high-performance air-intakes takes… They use a sock over to protect the filter also

Being OCD I clean out mine out constantly. I blast the filter out with compressed air and always keep it empty so it works at peak efficiently every time. I just replace the filter every several years and it's a 30 year old Shop Vac.

Smart tip regarding vacuum filters. Microfibers even very soiled ones can be cleaned by soaking them in Super Cleaner or an equivalent purple apc.

Good call Phil. One can not over estimate the suction difference between a dirty/clean vacume filter. Not to mention the extra strain [or not] on the motor!

If you went so far as to locate your shop vac permanently, you'd be much better off adding a cyclone pre-filter. It's cheap(ish) and you'll be amazed at how little actual debris makes it through to the filter. The product I use is the Oneida Dust Deputy. I mounted it to the top of my shop vac so that the entire thing is mobile as one unit and fits through a doorway (their method is to have the catch bucket on it's own wheels). So all you have to do is empty the bucket. I can't remember the last time I checked the filter on mine.

Awesome to see this tip on this channel is well. It is a true filter saver! However I found if you use your shopvac to vacuum up plaster your filter still get clogged, but somewhat slower. Keep up your content, your channel rocks!

My 4 Gal Ridgid mainly gets full of dog hair from vacuuming my house (3 dogs, one a real shedder), and since I got my compressor fixed last year, I've been using it to clean the vacuum filter ... empty the dirt / debris into the trash, and blow out the hair from the filter. Some may call that littering, but I call it recycling - because I've seen more than one area bird's nest made with dog hair. 🤣
@MirandaDetailing6 ай бұрын
Yup! I used to clean out my filters the same way. Even washing them out with apc and hose. Then let them dry. Birds live let hair! Great nesting material! 🤣😎👍🏼

Hi Phil… question I have a 23 sequoia TRD… I work in a caliber body shop. I know the whole drill from washing it to decon… I just need to apply the ceramic coating. Is it a good idea applying the ceramic coating in the shop or does it have to be 100% dust free place by the way I’m trying to bring it on the weekend when nobody is here….
@MirandaDetailing6 ай бұрын
Hi. I mean it depends on what’s happening around you. If there’s no heavy dust or spraying in the area you should be fine. If no one is there that would be perfect.

Good idea. Hey Phil......i had a failure. I cant get bottom of door panels ceramic coating to bead and sheet again. Sloooow water runs off. I hit it with Carpro Lift in an I.K. foamer and let it stand, did follow up with Carpro Descale in foam cannon. Nope. Didnt change a thing. Any ideas? Thank you. Hi wife.

Just bottom of doors pooling water like no coating. I wash the car every 2 weeks with Carpro Reset. Use Extreme solutions Topper as a drying aid. Thank you.

@kimnewling5728 can you see any tar or does the bottom of the panels feel rough to the touch, like it needs to be clayed? Maybe try a tar remover on those sections. And maybe a gentle clay mitt or towel. Sometimes there is a build up on those sections.

Great video I will check this out, does the vacuum guard ever need to be replaced ? Do you ever replace your vacuum after a long time or is cleaning enough to keep it in good shape sometimes the vacuum can get a odor I have a bag inside and try to change it often but would like to keep it cleaner/ smelling great
@MirandaDetailing5 ай бұрын
The filter guard is meant to last many years. As long as it doesn’t get damaged it will last many years. Just clean it out and rinse out the filter guard and let it dry. I will also wash out the vac and I used to actually wash the filter and let it dry completely. I never had a smell form the vac because I always cleaned it out like that.
