They know. They don't are. They care more about getting on Sportscenter than winning. Players have even come right out and said "I don't care if I get a penalty and it helps the other team score. I gotta be me." And they said this BEFORE THE SUPERBOWL! HE actually said he didn't care if the free 15 yards would help his opponent score IN THE SUPERBOWL. Showboating was more important that keeping his opponent from scoring. And it isn't as if that is a hypothetical situation. It has happened MANY times that a player gets an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty late in a half or game after scoring, and because of it, the other team gets the ball on the 40 or better, allowing them to just have to go 25 yards or so to get into field goal range with a minute or so to go. Games HAVE been lost due to the field advantage given by taunting penalties. And to date ZERO games have ever been WON due to a player taunting. But...what is ESPN going to show? The taunting. Not the great run that led to the touchdown in the first place. And that is what the network covering the game will show when they cut to commercial.

I umpired baseball and softball for 30 years and saw some excellent examples of similar stupidity. My favorite was the batter who led off the game by hitting a sky-high pop up to the second baseman. The batter was so certain he was going to be out that he was nearly back on the bench when the ball landed in fair territory beside the second baseman. Of course the batter was easily thrown out of first base. You could hear a pin drop on the batter's team's bench, but you could tell by his teammates' expressions that they wanted to strangle him.

There's a solution to all this- Don't celebrate at all. Just be cool about it.

Wait, so all sports were boring up until these idiots started "celebrating" before they'd won anything? So the Colts-Giants Championship Game in '58 was boring? Super Bowl XXV was a real yawner because nobody celebrated anything midway through the 2nd quarter? Secretariat's epic Belmont win in '73 was a total snoozer because the jockey didn't perform some sort of histrionics down the stretch? Boise State's upset of Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl just was too painful to watch because Ian Johnson didn't taunt the Oklahoma defense before converting the 2-point conversion? But watching morons cost their teams' potential victories just to indulge their over-inflated egos and say, "Hey everybody, look at me!" is fun? Gimme a break. If you need to see primadonna attention-whores acting out in order to be entertained, go watch a fashion show or something.

Leon Lett early celebration will always be the dumbest mistake ever lol and on top of that he did it in the Superbowl which is watched by the whole world lol
@AEMoreira816 жыл бұрын
At least that game was a blowout at that point. After the game, the Bills' owner singled out Don Beebe for his hustle on that play as never quitting.

@@AEMoreira81 Leon lett was the biggest reason they had such a large lead as he caused most of fumbles that day from Thruman Thomas.

The clip of Ken Norton laughing about it right after showed that the game was already over.
@kevinalexander68125 жыл бұрын
But had Leon Lett scored that TD the Cowboys would have had the largest margin of victory in a Super Bowl and the most points scored in a Super Bowl. So yes they won but he cost his team and his franchise a Super Bowl record.

Geez when will people STOP SHOWBOATING.... it doesnt make you look awesome, it makes you look like a douchebag. Also it makes compilations like this video that show all those great plays go to waste. I think coaches should have it in their contract that if they showboat then they have a 1 game suspension with a paycut since they arent playing that next game.
