Important notes: 1:41 Screamer is particularly good for this setup due to it's guardcrush. Guardcrush removes the 5 frames of throw invulnerability after blockstun resulting in tighter strike throw. 2:30 By ending your routing early I mean ending it in (5k) 6h. 10:33 Being grounded is not the only thing that's important, you also have to play reactively to catch approaches like this.

love the commentary~ one lil note i'll say is that Asuka can quick draw/cast cards by doing an input then holding back (to draw/discard) or forward (to cast) and pressing the corresponding attack button. it can be done in any combination (draw -> cast -> draw) and is veeeery fast if you wanna rebuild your hand

Great video, i like to play and learn Asuka myself but i dont see many guides given the character difficult. Just one comment about the shuffle on 9:30, if you play the game in a normal controller (ps4/5, xbox, etc.) this techinique of pressing all buttons at the same time is virtually impossible lol. What i recommend instead is pressing the buttons in doubles (square and cross, triangle an circle) or in order very quickly to fish the spells you want. It is not perfect but it is the best way i found myself to bypass this controller limitation. Anyway, great guide!! You have shed a light on our path in learning this complex character.

You can also bind your attack buttons to bumpers and triggers - this is how most Asuka and Zato players I know play on pad

The point about ending the combo early with 6H for better situations later, rather than trying to bruteforce for slightly more damage the cost of not restocking resources, was pretty good. It's something I never really thought about either.

He definitely doesn't take too much effort, he has a slightly higher skill floor and a basically limitless ceiling but once you get used to shuffling / cancelling properly you can go places without investing too much time. Highly recommend him!
