In the US, we usually have grass lawns in the front and back of our “yards”. If we plant a specific area with flowers or vegetables,then only that area is called the vegetable “garden” or flower “garden”. Also, what you’re wearing on top is called a sweater because a jumper was only worn by woman,typically a sleeveless dress worn over a blouse. The difference in languages is so interesting.👍

Jumpers confused me too... jumpers is a whole 1 piece. Sweaters is the warm top. It is sooo funny

Or they could have been words that originated in the United States, not the UK. Most of the time tunics here refer to larger/longer shirts that cover your rear end.

I had to look up Shirley Hughes. I have always been a huge book reader and my "local" where everybody knew my name was the library. But I have never heard of this author.

Hello Emma! Your garden is looking so lush and lovely, I do hope we get some decent weather soon,though we don’t sit in our garden, we have neighbours who are fairly new here but their children, oh my word. The boy who is the eldest screams so much, I’ve lots of nephews and nieces, had my own children, neighbours previous,friends kiddies but never have I heard screaming and shouting like it, he’s kicked the finials off our conservatory at least 4 times so far this year with how hard he kicks his football. Really annoys me, I love to hear kids play but he’s cut from a different cloth I think. Anyhow enough of troublesome neighbours😂 Kitchen soon tidied up didn’t it! Just shows how clear out help to make things function better. Great video as always.🥰🥰xx

I had to laugh when you described not being able to get ahold of your husband. In my house it’s always my husband trying to get ahold of me. For some odd reason I rarely hear my phone when he’s calling me. Sometimes he ends up calling one of our kids and has them tell me to call him. I can laugh about it now but I know he gets frustrated. It happens everywhere, whether I’m home, in my car or out somewhere.

It was my husband who had this problem and me that always tried to reach him.

I loved how you shared what improvements you've made in your back garden. Hope that your neighbor gets her home sold soon and that you can get your fence and gate moved to the boundary line. Is there a city official or someone you can talk to about this in case the new owner creates a fuss? I also wanted to mention that some of the styles of houses you shared -- back-to-back, terraced -- those terms are used in the USA unless it's in some of the larger cities on the East Coast. Did you purchase peaches or nectarines? I am hoping one of your Georgia readers will share about the peach harvest in their state.

I loved my naughty little sister, I was about 5 and my sister was about 2, I viewed her as 'my' naughty little sister, despite her being just lovely! I gave a copy of the book to a niece with a similarly aged little sister. She loved it too.

Your neighbour is lucky she was allowed to put the fence where she did. In Ontario Canada, she could’ve gotten sued and be made to remove the fence. How was that allowed there? Was there an issue with the survey when you closed the house ? The survey is a “sketch” of the land, showing all boundaries. I’m not sure what it’s called in the UK. Maybe it’s also a survey, but I think a property survey in the UK is what we call a building inspection. Great video as usual. 💕😊

We had a funny neighbour years ago, we were sick of the front being open plan.I got in touch with the local council because originally when the houses were built it was open plan but they told me that as long as the front wasn't over 1 metre high we could have a fence or wall.A few weeks later thats what we did making it more private.She went absolutely ballistic at me,but id got a copy of the letter from the planning department with everything they said to me.I avoiding talking to her and just gave her a copy of the letter.The following week i came home from work to find my back door and dining room window splattered with creosote. That obviously caused an argument, with her threatening me with legal action,which was never carried out.

Did you report it?
@helenpalmer1094
@helenpalmer1094 2 ай бұрын
Yes I did report it,but she denied doing it,then I regretted saying anything because her husband was obviously beating her up.And a few years later she committed suicide, I really didn't realise that she was having such a bad time. The people we bought the house off never mentioned their on going problems with them.

Chicken and stuffing can be in the fridge for at least 4 days?? It doesn't go bad... that quickly. We eat leftovers for at least 5 days in the fridge. Garden we use as growing veggies and food and flowers. So we don't use that word... we say yard for the front and back area and most homes have grass, trees everywhere, shrubs and bushes. The term you guys use for the concrete area, we call the porch front and back small area.

Yes,timing will be crucial with this fence move.The new buyer will see where it is currently,(like expecting to be able to walk next to the side of her new house) but if you already have it down before she moves in, you can just say that it’s going to it’s rightful spot ! Do you need to get it surveyed or is the boundary obviously marked! When we bought this house seven years ago, we assumed that the arborvitae trees were the dividing line,then a young man bought the empty house next door and paid to have a survey done. Turns out that he actually owns about two more feet on our side of the trees,(which we are happy to mow) and the young couple behind him bought their house with an existing fence on some of his property!😳😬
