Jfk learns the value of sensually and how to be emotionally honest rather than have it just be sex. He learns that Cleo took advantage of him for whatever she needed and he wants something that's real. He's trying to prove to Joan that he genuinely wants to pursue a relationship with her. He wants to learn how to love. Jone has been at Abe's side even before the show. She was the shoulder he cried on. She's taken care of Abe for so long to the point where she doesn't know what's her and what's performance for Abe. She finally found someone who she doesn't have to try for. She can just be Joan. She's scared that being with JFK means that she gave up on Abe. She's learning who she really wants to be and she has someone who supports her. She wants to learn who she is. And that's why Joan x JFK is such gold. It's literally so perfect

He never really learned anything and he wasn't funny enough to make up for it in the end. Like JFK was a jerk but he was funny and his character did change to become softer over time. Abe was probably the nicer character but many of his actions were so oblivious that I seriously doubted good intent and ultimately I was unsatisfied in how he was represented. It wasn't bad, just mediocre compared to the ithers in terms of comedy and personality

I love how this song represents so many things. Specifically Joans sense of self worth and identity. When Joan tried to impress Abe naturally it would always go south. When she tried to change herself is when he would notice. That made her so self conscious. And even JFK (who is a sleazy little slug) was impressed with Joan in her natural state. Never wanted her to change even if his main goal was to have sex with her. JFK noticed her beauty for itself and not her made up self. That's why I think this ship works so well. It's great and I have a blast watching this every time.

I've already commented once this beautiful piece of art, but I wanted to underline one that for me and my bf (who had seen your wips post on Twitter as well) is one of its best details: we both passionately ship Joanfk, but we also really appreciated the quick looks that Abe and Joan give to each other around 0.54. It's a very realistic, even a bit painful touch. Sometimes the notion of 'moving on' becomes a little too idealistic: broken hearts don't heal so quickly, even if the person ready to love you and appreciate you for who you are is right in front of you that doesn't mean you're immediately gonna forget everything about your previous feelings for someone else. But that doesn't even mean you won't be able to take your new chance, like Joan does in the end of this animatic. Being the one who sings the song, JFK has a lot of spotlight in this video (and how couldn't we be happy about that, we adore him!), the transition from his younger version to the current one is one of my absolute favorite moments... but I'm also very impressed by how you drew every Joan's expressions, how you represented every fragment of the conflictual and intense feelings one can have in this kind of situation. I relate to it a lot and I wanted to give you extra kudos for that. ❤️

i actually didn't draw that connection first in the video but that is SO right. i'm someone with social anxiety and a platonic example of this was when my long lost older half sister who I didn't have any connection with prior.. brought my out to food. i was completely unsure of her and didn't even greet her when she first came to visit (partially because I was just out of a long, bloody dental surgery but I was actively avoiding her out of anxiety) but the next year after that, she came back and not even a day after she decided to not only bring me and my sister out to an arcade and got us dippin dots. I immediately got a connection with her and actively suck out to hang out with her, can definitely say our sisterhood has been great, i consider her a trusted individual I can talk to things about, and it all started with her just getting me a dippin dots at an arcade in the bowling section. food is the way to a woman/girl's heart romantically and platonically, and i just love it.

THIS IS THE BEST USE OF THIS SONG IM CRYING IM IN LOVE JOAN AS A WAITRESS QEURHILADJOSLWG id like to think that before this song there was huge character development of jfk and him wondering if he said what he said to joan on prom night just to get in her pants or because he actually has taken a liking to her. hes still loud and makes out with the lot of girls in their school but he slowly starts to realise he just thinks about joan in their place instead. id imagine it would be subtle too like youd see jfk hanging out with a girl but in a few frames its joan before it switches back to who actually is and that itll get worse as the season goes on. then only the episode where hes being vulnerable and decides "oh crud i er uh, like joan".
